Make your own door wreath out of peppermint candies for Christmas 2022

Decorate your front door with these ingenious decorations made from everyday materials and add a cheerful accent.

Necessary materials:

  • White or red tape
  • 35 cm Styroporkranz
  • 60cm high strength floral wire
  • 5-6 bags of peppermint candies (red and white)
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • 3m ribbon
  • tape

Step-by-step instructions:

  • Wrap tape around the Styrofoam wreath to cover it completely.
  • Fold the floral wire in half, wrap it around the wreath and knot it, leaving a loop for hanging the wreath.
  • Using a pencil, trace a light line down the center of the front of the wreath form to create a guide for the first row of candies.
  • Unwrap a piece of candy. Apply a 1cm amount of glue to one side of the pencil line. Press the edge of the candy into the glue at a 45-degree angle and hold until completely dry (about 1 minute).
  • Unwrap 10-15 candies in batches, then apply a 6-inch line of glue to the wreath, following the pencil line. Press the candies into the glue one at a time until you get back to the beginning.
  • Repeat the previous 2 steps, starting every other row in the opposite direction, until the wreath is covered. Let it dry.
  • Pull the ribbon through the top of the wreath before hanging. Hang the wreath as usual, securing the ribbon between the floral wire and the nail. Let the ends hang down and trim if necessary.

Make a festive door wreath with packages for Christmas 2022

The warm memories of celebration stay with us for a lifetime, and homemade crafts can last for generations. Make such a wreath with your family and enjoy its charm year after year.

What you need:

  • Styrofoam plate, between 1 and 2.5 cm thick
  • Serrated knife
  • Scissors
  • Low temperature glue gun
  • Glue sticks
  • Flat wreath form, 30 cm diameter (or one made of cardboard)
  • 4 m long ribbon, 2.5 cm wide, for wrapping the wreath shape
  • Wrapping paper
  • Clear tape
  • Various ribbons and string to decorate the packaging

How to make the door wreath:

  • Use a serrated knife to cut Styrofoam packaging shapes. Rotate the Styrofoam and cut on all four sides to create the cleanest possible cut. To make a 30cm diameter wreath, three layers of packets are used. The largest gifts are at the bottom, the medium and smaller ones are in the middle and upper layers. These sizes are indicative and it is a good idea to make a few additional packages in different sizes to give you flexibility when putting together your creation: 10 pieces: 7 x 9 cm, 8 pieces: 7 x 7 cm, 6 pieces: 7 x 7 cm. 5 x 7 cm, 5 pieces: 2 x 7 cm, 4 pieces: 2 x 5 cm.
  • Use a flat wreath form and wrap ribbon around the ring to create a beautiful base. Attach the ribbon with hot glue as you work. Tie a hanging ribbon to the mold before attaching the packages to it.
  • Wrap the packages with the wrapping paper.
  • Add a ribbon or string to complete the package. Tip: The larger packages on the bottom do not need to be tied with bows as they will be covered anyway.
  • Once your packages are wrapped, you can arrange them on the wreath form. Don't stick them on yet - you have to like them first.
  • After choosing the ring arrangement of the packages, hot glue them one at a time until the bottom ring is complete. Continue gluing the second and third row presents.
