In winter, when the Christmas season is still approaching, creative leisure activities for the little ones in the family are always a good idea to relieve boredom. Thematic Christmas crafts with children result in unique pieces that can be used as harmonious decorations for the home or hung on the Christmas tree. Even years later, when the child is no longer one, the crafts provide a beautiful memory of the sociable time spent together.
Make your own star for the top of the Christmas tree
TheSternis definitely a favorite motif for Christmas. However, it is not always easy to design one yourself. We offer perhaps the simplest option - if you use wire to describe the characteristic shape and use it to create your own Christmas tree pendant. The craft project is suitable for children of all ages, but of course under supervision.
Ifchild-friendly craft materialsThe wooden beads are perfect. They are available in different sizes and can therefore be easily selected according to the craft project. It is better to choose ones with a diameter of 1-1.5 centimeters, as they are easy to thread and are also suitable for small children. Avoid those that are already colored and leave this task to your child.
For the star pendant made of wooden beads, in addition to wooden beads, you also need wire, jewelry pliers and thin string for hanging when the craft is already finished.
Help your child think about how big the star should be. Maybe you already have plans for where it will be hung later? Cut enough of the wire and use jewelry pliers to create the desired star shape. Bend the wire so that the wooden beads can be pulled through easily afterwards.
Once all the wooden beads are in the right position, bend the two ends crooked so that they can close. Tie together and fix a wooden bead at this point so that this 'interface' remains invisible.
Tie a string to the star so that it can be hung up and the simple poinsettia is ready. If desired, the wooden beads can be designed in any color. It works very simply if you put the beads on kebab skewers and color them that way. Water-based paints and old nail polishes are suitable for this.
Another way to make the wooden beads colorful is to put them on skewers and secure them firmly. Now put the tip of each kebab skewer with the pearl included into the paint and then let it air dry to the side. Be aware that coloring quickly becomes a mess and cover the work surface.
Another craft idea that is just as easy as making simple pendants. You will need wooden beads in any color and number of your choice, as well as string for hanging. It is advisable to only use natural materials.
Cut a sufficient length from the cord, fold in two to form a loop. Tie a knot about 3-4 centimeters below the loop and thread 2-3-4 wooden beads. Design according to your own preference and end the pendant with a sturdy knot.
Gnome made of wooden beads
Secret Santa and gnomes are one of the most popular symbols of Christmas that children really like. They are cute and with their constant smile on their faces, they always look in a good mood that they infect everyone with. Really great gnomes in Scandinavian style can be made from wooden beads with a slightly larger diameter. The instructions are child-friendly and particularly easy to follow. Get the useful materials first.
You will need wooden beads in two sizes for the bodies and heads of the gnomes, triangles made of felt for the hut and a bell each, as well as paint and hot glue as aids. In order for the gnomes to look really wintery, you need clever clothing - cut thin strips of felt in a different color and then tie them as a scarf under each figure's head.
First, color the large balls and leave the small ones as they are - in the natural color of the wood. Fix the small diameter bead onto the larger wooden bead. Make small pointed cones out of the triangular pieces of felt and attach small bells to the very tip. Don't let the gnomes freeze in winter and tie a scarf around each of their necks.
A loop can be worked into the gnome's pointed hat and hung somewhere as a creative Christmas decoration. Making a whole family of gnomes is another idea that your children would surely like.
