If everything outside seems gray and gloomy, bring some color into your own four walls and decorate not only the Christmas tree, but also the windows. Today we show you a cheap and original idea for Christmas decorations for windows, namely stars made of tracing paper. This paper is also known as kite paper and allows sunlight to flow through, creating great light-color effects. Read on to learn how to fold window stars. The craft ideas are also suitable for children.
First, each individual point is folded from a strip of paper, then glued together. Depending on the number and shape of the points, you can create very different patterns. If the stars are fixed on the window and flooded with light, you can see the pattern very clearly. You can use tracing paper in a single color or combine the colors.
To make these stars you need tracing paper, scissors and a glue stick. Liquid glue doesn't work because it creates waves.
First you have to decide how many points the star should have. For an 8-pointed star you need 8 equal strips of paper measuring 10 x 5 cm. You can also experiment with different measurements, but the long side must always be twice as long as the short side.
Fold the strips in half and fold all four corners toward the center. Glue all the prongs together, placing each prong on top of the other and securing them with glue. Use the center line to position the spikes correctly.
There are a lot of variations that you can fold from tracing paper. You can experiment with the shape and length of the spikes, for example with pointed spikes or spikes of different lengths, or try out different folding techniques. You can use a template for this.
