We're talking about the good old (flat) pliers. Is this supposed to work? Now if you think about it, what is one of the jobs of pliers? That's right, it's supposed to pull out a stubborn object - often nails - effortlessly. It is compact and non-slip at the same time. These are the best conditions if you want to remove particularly hard-wearing weeds yourself, don't you agree?

Some weed killers are harmful to the environment, others are quite expensive, others (namely our own fingers) are painful - but all of them don't have to be when you take this handy tool out of the garage. If you don't have pliers yet, it's high time.

How to use the tool against weeds correctly

If you would like to use the tool to pull weeds, you can make your work a little easier by following the following tips:

  • Although tongs can also be effective on dry floors, it is advisable to soak them well before use.
  • If you are not in a hurry and want to save water, you can also wait until it has rained heavily.
  • Hold the tongs comfortably in your hand and grab the weeds with their jaws.
  • Position the forceps jaws as low as possible, directly on the surface of the soil.
  • Squeeze the handles of the flat-nose pliers firmly and pull the plant out of the ground.
  • Avoid swinging back and forth or breaking the weeds when pulling. Pull it straight up as possible.
  • After each use, you should clean the pliers well to remove soil and other dirt and to avoid jamming of the moving mechanisms.

Depending on the type of weed, different types of pliers prove to be particularly effective. This is how you can clear garden paths, driveways, patios and beds from weeds:
