Applying Feng Shui in the garden – tips for more harmony and well-being

The Feng Shui teaching is well known and even very popular. With their help you can also create harmony in your home, office and garden. Today we want to explain to you the basic rules according to which you can apply Feng Shui in the garden to make it beautiful and fragrant and to use the energy there correctly.

What needs to be taken into account?

First, let's start by telling you about the two types of energy - energy chi and energy sha. Chi energy is the energy of positive movement, it symbolizes life, happiness and health. This energy is in all living things. The Chi energy favors harmony, harmony in the home, office or garden. Chi energy is movement, but slow and calm movement. This is the calming movement of the naturally babbling stream outside in nature or a slowly flowing river.

The energies at a glance

Energy Sha is the opposite of Chi energy. Sha is mis-gifted or stagnant, unfavorable chi in Feng Shui teachings. This means that when Chi energy is hindered in its natural flow, Sha is created. In nature only flowing movements occur, but human hands create longer, unnatural straight lines, then the Chi becomes Sha. This energy is even reinforced by straight angles in the interior, straight paths without curves, elongated corridors. It is therefore advisable to avoid the harmful Sha energy as much as possible and emphasize the positive Chi energy. This will bring you several benefits in your everyday life.

Let's now try to use a few Chi rules when designing the garden. If you want to use Feng Shui in the garden, you don't need straight paths and angles. Your footpaths should be designed to have smooth curves and turns. It is desirable that small paths run through the garden. Your retreat outside must be in full harmony with you, with your thoughts and feelings. You can place your flower beds, stone paths and lawns according to your preferences, according to the shape and size of your garden.

You will have a lot of positive energy in your garden if your plants there are harmoniously arranged and look beautiful. Chi prefers small, low-growing flowers and plants. There is currently a wide range of these available, starting with roses, succulents (such as Sempervivum) and sedums.

Create a rock garden

The rock garden can be a wonderful place where plants show their beauty, for example, perennial plants (Arabis caucasica), all varieties of thyme, saxifrage bloom here. Periwinkles can thrive in shady areas. Small plants, guarded with green plants, are perfectly combined with conifers. Plus – running water in the garden – it is a powerful source of Chi energy. I will also recommend a small fountain or artificial pond.

Fragrant aromas intensify the positive chi. Therefore, it is highly advisable to plant your garden with lilies, lilacs, mint, roses, jasmine, honeysuckle, conifers. Let the scents of these plants fill the air around you! Breathe deeply in the pure air, it has a very positive effect! Climbing plants also help accumulate chi energy in the garden. And don't forget, there must always be order in your garden, house or office! The Chi energy is disturbed by any disorder.
