The right organization system in the garden house ensures more gardening fun! What you should keep in mind

With the right organization system in the garden house, the latter not only looks much better visually. In this way, you can of course always find and reach everything straight away, without some of them getting in front of you or in the way and others falling over when you take them out. Need some suggestions?

Shelves are practical if there is space

Not every garden shed or shed is particularly large. However, if you have the opportunity to add a shelf without it being too cramped, you should consider it. But don't just take any shelf, choose a model that:

  • made of a stable and durable material (metal, wood).
  • ideally has adjustable floors. Then, if necessary, you can remove or move the bottom shelf so that, for example, there is space for the lawn mower underneath.
  • can support the weight of the items you want to store there.

Shelves in the form of grids are also practical. If necessary, you can attach hooks to them and hang handheld devices, for example.

Plan in advance what you want to store on the shelf to choose the right size. And here we don't just mean that there is enough shelf space, but also that you don't buy or make a shelf that is too large and only takes up an unnecessary amount of space.

Cabinets as an alternative

Many people prefer shelving systems because the open design makes small rooms in particular appear more open and therefore larger, while cupboards can appear more massive and restrictive. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. An open shelf must always be orderly, otherwise the resulting chaos will cause exactly the opposite. A locked cupboard can actually lead to chaos, because if something isn't organized, "you can't see it anyway" and "you can fix it later".

Either way, it's worth integrating a system of labeled boxes inside the cupboard.

The next step would be to sort out all the tools and other things you want to store in the garden shed. You shouldn’t just come up with one system for this. Organizer boxes could also be very useful for this. For example, use one storage box for secateurs and another for hand shovels, or come up with a system yourself depending on the type of tool.

Speaking of secateurs: sharpening them is important before or after the gardening season.Find out herehow this works.

If you don't want to or can't put up a shelf with boxes, the right organization system in the garden shed for the garden tools is even more important so that everything looks tidy. In this case, you can attach strips for hanging on the walls or practical metal grids for the wall with hooks. Drawer boxes can also be very practical for categorizing.

The large tools such as shovels, rakes, rakes, etc. are also well stored and sorted in a stand and you can easily build this yourself by using a few boards or strips or Euro pallets. Take a lookover herefor some inspiration.

Label all boxes for a better overview

In the end, you may not have that many storage boxes and you can remember which tools are in each one. However, if you have collected a larger number, labels could be worthwhile. This means that other people in the household always know immediately where something can be found and, more importantly, where it needs to be stowed away again.

Use walls instead of floors

Sure, there are devices and other things in the garden house that can hardly be stored anywhere other than on the ground (the lawn mower, for example). But other storage spaces should be found for everything else. It is important to be able to enter the cottage or shed comfortably without tripping over anything every other step.

The walls are ideal for garden hoses, larger tools such as shovels and even bicycles. Special brackets and/or hooks can be screwed onto the walls for all of them. The garden hose can even be attached with a holder that allows you to roll it out and roll it up again when needed without having to take it off and carry it outside every time.

You can even use the door!

Do you need a workspace?

Some people create a work area for planting and other outdoor work because they prefer to do their first garden work in the pleasant spring sunshine. Others have thatuseful planting tablepreferably not visible in the garden shed. If you belong to the second group, you should consider this when planning the garden house furnishings. How big should your work surface be and how much is left for storage space? Can and do you even have to make one or two compromises so that everything fits in and an effective organization system is created in the garden shed?

Planning is key!

Outside storage space?

Why not?! In the example above, two short privacy screens have been installed on one side of the house, marking a small area for equipment and garden supplies that are used more frequently. This means that the garden hose can be left outside, a deck chair can be temporarily stowed away overnight or during rainy days, or the wheelbarrow can be left ajar or maybe even thatGarbage cans organizedbecome.

Maintain order over time

The first time you sort and organize, you should throw away everything that is unnecessary or even broken. This is the only way to guarantee that the new order will last for a long time. In the future, avoid keeping devices and other aids “just in case” in case they “could still be used for something.” With such thinking a new chaos is already inevitable.
