A Mediterranean garden is the dream of many hobby gardeners. In fact, who could resist colorful flowers and fragrant exotic plants! Several ceramic vases and oversized clay pots flatter the terrace laid with natural stone, and the gently curved garden path leads into the house. A little oasis that your family and friends can enjoy. Fantastic! But which flowers and plants are really suitable?
For a Mediterranean-style garden area you need fragrant plants, exotic trees and of course flowers.
Fragrant plants– Lavender, artemisia, sage, rosemary, oregano and thyme are a beautiful addition to Tuscan-style garden design. Since they develop their aromas particularly in a light breeze, they are perfect for planting around the garden path. They also grow quickly in sunny locations. The green, cozy herbs and scented plants harmonize well with olive trees.
trees– Cypress trees set accents and give the outdoor area a well-structured look. The dwarf cypresses can be arranged in clay pots around the terrace or around the entrance to the house. For example, Chinese juniper, western arborvitae, common boxwood, Japanese holly, tulip tree and stone yew are particularly suitable - they are ideal for the German climate zone.
Flowers -It goes without saying that many flowers grow in the Mediterranean garden. A red-blue-purple-orange color scheme makes the garden look exotic. You can achieve the desired effect with orange sunflowers, blue-green spurge (Fireglow or Red Wing variety), gold lacquer (Apricot Twist or Orange Bedder variety). Local flowers such as Gauker flowers will also bring a touch of the Mediterranean.
