However, if you often style your mane with gel or hairspray, you should clean your hairbrush thoroughly every two weeks. Basically, whenever there are a lot of hairs caught in the hairbrush or it looks dirty, it's time for a basic cleaning. This way you can remove loose hair from the hairbrush

Before cleaning your hairbrush, you should first remove any loose hair. This means you will also have less effort when cleaning. Depending on your hair length, you should do this at least once a week. Start by simply pulling the hair away with your fingers. But despite all your efforts, you couldn't get rid of everything? Don't worry, we have some great hacks for you to remove hair from your hairbrush.

Baking soda is undoubtedly one of the best and most effective hairbrush cleaning hacks. It's that easy:

  • Pour 2 liters of water into a small tub and dissolve 1 teaspoon of baking soda in it.
  • Allow the hairbrush to soak for 20 minutes.
  • To remove stubborn residues and dirt particles, move the hairbrush back and forth slightly after the exposure time.
  • Then rinse with clear water and, if necessary, pluck out any remaining hair with your fingers.

With vinegar

To remove stubborn dirt and limescale residue, you can alternatively clean the hairbrush with vinegar. This hack works the same as with baking powder. Simply mix water and vinegar in a 3:1 ratio in a tub, leave the hairbrushes to act for 20-30 minutes and then rinse thoroughly. It couldn't be easier or cheaper, right?

Clean plastic hairbrushes with shaving foam

Plastic hairbrushes can actually be cleaned very easily with shaving foam. To do this, you simply have to spray the brush with the foam and let it work for about 10-15 minutes. Next, brush out the loose hair with a fine comb and rinse with lukewarm water. Shaving foam is particularly effective against residue from styling products such as hairspray. However, this hack only works with plastic brushes. You should not clean wooden hairbrushes with this.

Clean brushes in the washing machine

Yes, you can also clean your hairbrush in the washing machine. However, this method only works with plastic brushes and not with wooden brushes. You also have to remove the hair and you can use one of the hacks mentioned above. Then simply put the brush in the cutlery basket and let the washing machine do its job.
