Dark colors and different textures characterize this apartment in Saint Petersburg

Deep, dark colors, various textures and a cozy ambience characterize this apartment in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The project was designed by INT2architecture in 2016 and completed in 2017. The contemporary apartment is located in the center of the city on the top floor of an old building built at the beginning of the 19th century. Originally the house was built in an eclectic style and was remodeled over time by several architects.

The main goal of this project was to have as much as possiblefunctional spacefor short-term stays of 4 to 5 people. The result of the project of architects and interior designers is a comfortable apartment that resembles a hotel suite. The apartment extends to 215 square meters and accommodates a living room, two bedrooms with two bathrooms, kitchen, study, laundry room and a steam room.

The idea of combining dark colors on walls and ceilings with different textures is part of the main concept of the contemporary apartment in Saint Petersburg. Deep colors were used specifically and cleverlymaterials and lightscombined to create a wonderfully beautiful interior. The dark colors of brown, gray and green were skilfully combined with various wooden structures, granite and cement tiles.

The deep bluish gray and green were used as wall colors in both bathrooms, where they perfectly set off the light wood washbasins. The cream colors on the tiled floor and the oval, free-standing bathtub in white create a beautiful contrast and add style and elegance to the room. The bedrooms and the living area are predominantly decorated in light colors.

In the living room, furniture pieces in dark colors were chosen, which stand out perfectly against the white wall and ensure a unified style. The choice of interior design for the study also fell on the same color and material combination. The walls in this room are painted the same dark gray with a blue tint. The light parquet floor and the white ceiling open up the narrow space and ensure that the room does not appear restrictive or oppressive. Dark wood covers the floor, the front wall and the ceiling above the kitchen unit, thereby separating the cooking area from the light, neutral-colored living room. A fireplace creates a particularly cozy and warm atmosphere in the open living area.
