This cool and modern maisonette gallery apartment from Vilnius in Lithuania was completed in 2018. The project is simply called Apartment B9, and the idea for it comes from the architectural firm EMA Butrimaviciute. The 100 square meter apartment is located in a modern residential building bordering the Old Town of Vilnius and the cozy park.
Minimalistically designed maisonette apartment
Apartment B9 is mainly divided into two functional zones. For this reason, the designers transformed the ground floor into a quiet area for working and sleeping. Three private rooms and a bathroom are also connected to a spacious hall in which the stairs are a core element.
The hanging steel structures help to make the stairs visually lighter, while glass elements create playful reflections between artificial and natural lighting. The upper floor is dedicated to the living room and the kitchen with dining area.
Old masonry and modern textures create a unique ambience
The team of architects from 2B.group was commissioned to design an apartment for a discerning single that combines authentic elements with modern shapes and textures. An old masonry, which was hidden under layers of plaster, old ceiling beams and sloping roofs, was removed as part of the
Planning the open space makes it possiblethe natural lightto make optimal use of the eastern and western facades. For this reason, the only enclosed area here is a second bathroom. This also has a visual connection with stairs through the smart glass.
Modern interior design
Inspired by art galleries, the designers created a light-filled home. White surfaces cover almost every floor, wall and ceiling. Contemporary furniture and fixtures are installed and are used to add some pops of color to the otherwise white finish.
According to the designers, the laconic architecture of the residential building was the inspiration for redesigning the interior. Texture was also the key word for the selection of materials.Warm and bright colors, as well as halftones highlight every object in the interior and make a statement.
Accordingly, the only built-in elements in the apartment are the kitchen and the fireplace. The industrial brushed steel facades contrast with the expressive marble pieces. The rest of the room remains neat and clean - perfect setting to display the art collected by residents over the years.
As already mentioned above, the first floor of the maisonette gallery apartment is primarily used as a relaxation area and for sleeping. There are three rooms, two of which appear to be bedrooms, while the third, a cozy corner, is particularly suitable for studying or reading. Other rooms are dedicated to storage or a bathroom on the ground floor.
So, going up one level takes you to the main living space. It is therefore an open room with a kitchen, dining area and living room in one. There is also a large terrace and a second bathroom.
