Natural stone wall inside and outside for an authentic look

A private house in Israel was redesigned and the authentic natural stone wall was restored inside and out and stylishly integrated into the modern interior. The total living space is 150 square meters, with the highlight of the house being the staircase outside that connects the living floors. The house is located in the Old City in Safed, Israel, and maintaining the distinctive look from the outside was of great importance to the project.

A natural stone wall inside and outside surrounds a total of 5 floors. These include the roof terrace, a wine cellar and three living floors. All rooms are designed around the stairs. A free space is created between the floors, which was left open so that there are no obstacles to the fresh air flow from the skylight and thespacious terracedisturb. The staircase consists of a stable steel construction. Only the steps were renovated and equipped with non-slip steel plates to protect the quarry stone and for safety reasons.

A special feature of the interior is the lighting. Modern lights hang from the ceiling to the first floor. We know these from industrial design. They consist mainly of cable or, in this case, steel cable and end in an oversized light bulb.
