Focaccia garden recipe
Focaccia Garden is a delicious flatbread that is topped with fresh vegetables and herbs before baking and transformed into a real work of art. The basic recipe is easy to follow and, above all, requires creativity - anything you like is allowed!
Ingredients for the yeast dough:
- 400 grams of wheat flour
- 250 ml water, lukewarm
- 1/2 cube fresh yeast or 8 grams dry yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- circa 2 THE Salzflocken
For the vegetable toppingActually, absolutely anything is conceivable and you can use any vegetables that you would otherwise cook in the oven. But here comes our suggestion:
- 1 small zucchini
- 1 small carrot
- green asparagus spears, woody ends cut off
- a few cherry tomatoes
- 1 small red onion
- a few radishes
- 2-3 tbsp pumpkin or sunflower seeds
- Fresh herbs of your choice – rosemary and parsley, for example, go particularly well
- 1 tbsp coarse sea salt
And it's that easy:
- For the yeast dough, put water, yeast and sugar in a mixing bowl and mix well. Cover with cling film and let stand for about 10-15 minutes.
- Sift wheat flour and mix with the salt. Add to the yeast mixture along with the olive oil and mix with the dough hook of the hand mixer on the lowest setting for 1-2 minutes.
- Turn the hand mixer to the highest setting and process for another 3-4 minutes to form a smooth dough.
- Lightly oil a large bowl, pour the dough into it and let it rise, covered, at room temperature for at least 4 hours. The longer you let the dough rest, the fluffier the focaccia garden will be.
- You can prepare the vegetables just before baking. Halve the asparagus spears lengthwise. Wash the zucchini and carrots and cut them into narrow strips or peel them. Be sure to cut the vegetables a little thicker - thin slices can burn before the bread is ready.
- Line a baking tray with baking paper or oil it well. Knead the dough again briefly with your hands and pull it apart into a rectangle or roll it out.
- Let rise for 30 minutes and preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Brush the dough with 2 tablespoons olive oil.
- Now the fun begins and you can decorate and decorate your focaccia garden as you wish. For example, asparagus spears and zucchini are perfect for flower stalks or a meadow. You can conjure up many different flowers from tomatoes, radishes and peppers or pumpkin seeds.
- Finally, sprinkle the focaccia with the fresh herbs and coarse sea salt.
- Let rise for another 15 minutes, brush again with olive oil and then bake for about 25-30 minutes.
