Well, here's a nifty test that could save you stress, money and unnecessary grief over your hair - it only takes two seconds and can help you determine whether your face suits a shorter hairstyle. You can easily test the 5.5 cm rule at home with a pencil and a ruler and find out which hair length best suits your face shape.
How to do this:
- Place a pencil horizontally under your chin in line with your shoulders.
- Hold a ruler vertically under your ear.
- Note where the pencil intersects with the ruler.
The 5.5cm rule states that your face will suit a short hairstyle like a youthful bob if the measurement is less than 5.5cm. If the value is over 5.5 cm, your facial structure is unlikely to suit short hair and you should be satisfied with longer curls.
