Halloween recipes made from puff pastry: Scary mummies made from raspberry pockets
Do you prefer to eat dessert first? Us too! That's why we're starting our Halloween recipe collection with two sweet ideas.
We enjoy crunchy raspberry pockets anytime, but for Halloween we turn them into scary mummies. Here's how:
Ingredients:
- 2 x 375g pack of puff pastry, thawed
- 6 tbsp raspberry jam
- 3 tbsp milk (for brushing)
- Sugar eyes
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 190°C. Line a baking sheet with baking paper (or use the parchment from the dough package)
- Roll out the dough and cut a sheet into 6 equal squares, then cut each square in half to make 12 rectangles.
- Then roll out other dough and cut into thin strips.
- Pour the raspberry jam or onto the rectangles, avoiding the outer edge.
- Place the strips of dough decoratively like mummies and press the edges lightly to seal them, for example with a fork.
- Brush with the milk and bake for 20 minutes until the raspberry pockets are golden.
- Decorate with edible eyes and serve.

- 1 package of puff pastry, thawed
- 150 g Nutella
- 8 pretzel sticks
- 2 tablespoons sugar (brown or white, depending on your choice)
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 180°C. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry and flatten it slightly with a rolling pin. Cut the dough into approx. 16 pieces measuring 7 x 8 cm.

- Carefully wrap the dough around the top of a pretzel stick, place it on the prepared baking sheet, and carefully spread out the slits. Repeat for the other witch brooms.
- Sprinkle with sugar and bake for about 15 to 20 minutes. Allow to cool completely before serving.

Maybe you already have our suggestions fordelicious mummy sausages in puff pastryseen (if not, go directly to the link!). But even without meat, you can prepare a simple but effective Halloween party food with puff pastry. The following recipe for puff pastry ghosts is just one possible idea.
Ingredients:
- 2 packages of puff pastry, thawed
- 50 g grated Pecorino Romano cheese
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh rosemary
- 18 wooden skewers, approx. 20 cm long
- Capers and cream cheese
Preparation:
- Preheat the oven to 200°C.
- Sprinkle the work surface with flour and half the cheese. Brush one side of the dough with water and place it, moistened side down, on the work surface dusted with flour and cheese. It helps to run a rolling pin over the dough to stretch it a bit.
- Brush the top of the dough with water and sprinkle with the remaining cheese and rosemary. Use your hands or rolling pin to lightly press the cheese mixture into the surface of the dough.
- Using a pizza cutter, cut the dough into strips about 16 to 18 1 cm wide.
- Thread the dough strips onto the skewers like an accordion. Place a few skewers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and store the remaining skewers in the refrigerator until ready to bake.
- Bake for 10 minutes and check if they are cooked through. Bake until baked through, up to 5 minutes longer.
- Remove and let cool on a wire rack.
- Making ghosts:Spread cream cheese on one side of the capers and place them on the prepared dough as “eyes”. Allow to harden and serve.

- 4 carrots, different sizes, peeled
- 2 packages of puff pastry, thawed
- 250 g Brie cheese, round, whole piece
- 250 g raspberry jam
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon honey
- sliced almonds
- Crackers, for serving
Preparation:
- Line a baking tray with baking paper.
- Cut the carrots to the length of your fingers: about 5 cm for the thumb, 8 cm for the index and ring fingers, 8 cm for the middle finger and 5 cm for the little finger. (Use the same carrot for the thumb and little finger).
- Using a vegetable peeler, round the tops slightly.
- Roll out one dough onto the prepared baking sheet and arrange the brie and carrots in the middle to form a hand. Spread the brie with the raspberry jam.
- Brush the outline of the hand with the beaten egg and place the other puff pastry on top, pressing the dough together around the “hand”.
- Use a knife to cut out the outline of the hand and remove the excess dough. Brush the whole dough with the beaten egg. Make small incisions with the knife to represent knuckles and fingernails.
- Cool the puff pastry hand in the freezer for at least 30 minutes and a maximum of 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C.
- Place hand in the oven and bake for 30 minutes, until the dough is puffed and golden brown.
- Carefully place your hand on a serving platter. Using a teaspoon, place a small dollop of honey on the top of each finger. Press the almonds onto each finger as fingernails. Cut into your hand with a knife in a few places so that the jam runs out like blood.
- Serve immediately with crackers and wow guests at your party.
