Do you love pancakes and would eat one every morning if there was someone to make them for you? Then you should try the Kaiserschmarrn with applesauce. This simple dessert is also delicious for brunch and is popular with children and adults alike.
The incredibly delicious Austrian Kaiserschmarrn is prepared in bite-sized pieces with applesauce. It is usually served as a dessert, but is also a delicious and filling breakfast or snack at any time of the day.
Ingredients
- 90 g Allzweckmehl
- 70g sugar
- 100g whole milk
- 3 Owner
- 30 g Rum
- 40 g raisins of your choice
- A pinch of salt
- 40 g Butter
- Powdered sugar for dusting
- Applesauce for garnish
preparation
- Place the flour and salt in a large bowl and slowly stir in the milk with a whisk.
- Soak the raisins in the rum and add them to the flour mixture along with the rum.
- Add 50 g sugar and the eggs and stir everything with the whisk.
- Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add all of the pancake batter to the butter and cook over medium heat for 3 to 4 minutes.
- When one side of the pancake has browned and set, divide it into portions and turn each one over to cook on the other side. Bake, covered, for another 2-3 minutes.
- Remove the lid and carefully tear the Kaiserschmarrn into large pieces using two forks.
- Sprinkle the remaining 20g sugar over the pieces and continue cooking for a few minutes to allow the sugar to caramelize.
- Cook the pancake covered for a few more minutes and turn it over again.
- Dust the Kaiserschmarrn with powdered sugar and servewith the applesauce.
