Pizza with a difference – a recipe for pizza on a stick
- 10g dry yeast
- 120 ml warm water (approx. 40 degrees)
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 160 g Flour
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 380 g marinara sauce
- 225 g Mozzarella, geraspelt
- Topping of your choice (e.g. salami, ham, pepperoni, peppers, olives, mushrooms, tomatoes, etc.)
- Steel (zB Eisstiele)
You can get pizza with a difference without question with this onecreative ideaon a stick. Not only are they delicious, but they're also much easier to eat when you're sitting comfortably on the sofa. And you don't get your fingers dirty while eating. To prepare these, you first need the dough. To do this, mix the water with the yeast and a little sugar. Set aside for about 10 minutes to allow the yeast to react and begin to foam.
After these 10 minutes, place the yeast in a large bowl along with the flour, salt and olive oil. Mix these ingredients with a fork. Once they are fairly mixed, place the dough on a work surface that you have previously sprinkled with flour and continue kneading it by hand. Gradually add more flour until the dough is no longer sticky and form a ball.
Take a piece of dough about the size of a golf ball and form it into a ball and then flatten it. Insert a stick into the dough and flatten it even further. The aim should be to create a shape that is as round and typical of a pizza as possible. Repeat until you have used all the dough. Then preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
In the meantime, spread a little marinara and then grated mozzarella on each pizza stick. You can then add the rest of the ingredients you have chosen, either making all the pizzas the same or different ones. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes and you have prepared the classic with a twist. Serve the pizza lollipops with the rest of the marinara as a dip.
With ready-made dough
For about 16 lollipop pizzas:
- 450 g of ready-made pizza dough
- 225 g Fontina, grated
- 16 stems
- 16 salami slices
- any pizza sauce
You can prepare this recipe even faster and easier. But the result is really good again. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Divide the finished dough into 16 pieces and form balls out of them. Insert a stem into each ball and flatten. Spread them out on a baking tray lined with baking paper, sprinkle cheese over them and place a slice of salami on each mini pizza and finally cheese again. Of course, you can also choose and add any other topping you like. Bake the small pizzas for about 25 to 30 minutes or until the cheese is golden brown.
Pizza bites in an ice cube tray
- Pizza dough (homemade or purchased)
- Any topping such as salami or ham and vegetables, cut very small
- The sesame seed
- Oregano
- Emmental or other cheese, grated
- Pizzasoße (zB Marinara)
- Egg yolk for brushing
Roll out the dough thinly and place the ice cube tray on top. Press them lightly. Now you can cut out the dough along the marking. You will need two of these pieces of dough. Place the first piece on the ice cube tray and press in the places for the ice cubes. You will receive hollows that you can now fill with a little sauce and your chosen side dishes (depending on the size of the ice cubes, about 1/2 teaspoon per hole). Brush the edge with egg yolk and place the second piece of dough on top. Roll a rolling pin over the ice cube tray. This way the edges are sealed.
Using a knife, cut along these edges to create individual bites. Repeat these steps as often as you like, depending on how much dough you have available and how many bites you want to make. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Spread the pizza bites on a baking tray lined with baking paper and brush them with egg yolk.
Then sprinkle oregano or sesame seeds, cheese or any other spices on top as you like. Feel free to put together a mix of different variants. Bake the bites for 25 to 30 minutes. If you would like to serve pizza in a different way for a party, this is exactly the right option! Give the morsels enough time to cool down because the heat builds up inside, making them particularly hot.
Pizza rolls with salami and mushrooms
For 8 rolls:
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 35 g mushrooms, chopped very small
- 25 g onions, chopped finely
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp Italian spice mix
- 180 g marinara sauce
- 55g mozzarella, grated
- 30 g salami, chopped into small pieces
- 8 pieces of dough for spring rolls (or puff pastry or pizza dough instead if you like)
- 1 large egg, roughly broken
- optional: basil, chopped
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Heat the oil in a pan on the stove and add the mushrooms, onions, garlic and spice mixture. Roast until vegetables begin to soften, about 5 to 6 minutes. Add about two-thirds of the marinara sauce and cook over medium heat until the mixture has thickened, 3 to 4 minutes more. Set the pan aside and let the pizza mixture cool for about 10 minutes. Then put it in a bowl and stir in the cheese and salami.
Take a piece of dough and place it on the counter in front of you. One of the corners should point towards you. Spread some of the pizza sauce you just made over the dough. Then fold the bottom corner over the filling and then the two side corners towards the middle. Brush these interfaces with egg and then roll the roll further up. Repeat with the remaining dough.
Line a baking tray with baking paper and spread the pizza rolls on it, with the seal sides facing down. Brush them with a little oil and bake the treats until golden brown, about 15 minutes. Then let them cool for a few minutes and then sprinkle them with the basil. You can use the remaining marinara sauce as a dip.

Now cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place for 60 to 90 minutes until it doubles in volume (on cold days this can also be done in a preheated oven at 66 degrees.
