Turnip stew with beef: classic recipe
Preparation:
- Pour 2 tablespoons of olive oil into a deep pot and heat. Season and salt the meat and add it to the pot. Sear for 4 minutes on each side. You can use one to turn the meat.
- Add the garlic cloves and sauté for a minute. Add the tomato paste and simmer for a minute, stirring constantly.
- Pour the vegetable broth and beer into the pot and bring to the boil. Season and salt the dish. Then reduce the heat and let it simmer covered for about 120 minutes. Check regularly whether the meat is completely covered with liquid and top up with water if necessary.
- In the meantime, drizzle the vegetables with olive oil and place them in a pot. Sauté for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the vegetables to the meat and simmer for another hour.
Grandma's turnip stew with Mettenden: quick and hearty winter dish
The classic turnip stew is prepared with meat. Very often people rely on Mettenden. The recipe is very simple and the hearty winter dish is ready in less than an hour.
The ingredients:
- 1 kg turnip, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 Mettenenden, sliced
- 1 kg potatoes, diced
- one sweet potato, medium sized
- one medium onion, cut into bite-sized pieces
- two carrots, roughly chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, pressed
- 500 ml vegetable broth
- 50 ml tomato paste
