Anyone who likes to eat jam and make it themselves will of course be in the mood for variants during the Christmas season that really create a Christmas atmosphere. In principle, it doesn't matter which fruit you use, it's the spices that matter! Cinnamon, vanilla, star anise and ginger are particularly suitable. If you now feel like making homemade jam, it's best to get to work straight away. The following recipes are not difficult to follow and are perfect if you want to make your own Christmas jam. Whether with mango, apple or orange, there are no limits! Give your family a special treat with a Christmas breakfast or use the Christmas jam as a gift for friends and relatives.
Make your own Christmas jam – spicy orange jam
- 10 to 12 untreated oranges
- 20 g ginger, finely grated
- 7 star anise
- 1 kg preserving sugar (1:1)
Using a zester, thinly cut the peels from four of the oranges and fillet the oranges. Squeeze the juice out of the separating membranes. Squeeze the juice from the remaining oranges (approx. 800 ml) and then bring to the boil together with the grated ginger, star anise, orange fillets and preserving sugar and cook for 4 minutes. Pour the finished jam directly into the prepared jars and seal. The recipe is enough for 7 glasses of 250 ml each.
Tea and mango jam
- 4 tea bags of rooibos tea
- 400 g Mangos
- 500 g preserving sugar (2:1)
- 5 star anise
First let the tea bags steep in 600 ml of hot water for about 5 to 8 minutes. Then remove the bags and prepare 400 g of pulp from the mangoes. Cut half of it into cubes and puree the other half. Then put the cubes, the puree, star anise and preserving sugar in a pot and bring to the boil together with the tea and then let it boil well for another 3 minutes. Pour into prepared jars, seal airtight and let cool. Why not use the delicious jam if you?Muffins backenand use them as filling!
Prepare mulled wine jam
- 400g brown sugar
- 2 bags of “Gelfix Extra”
- 300 ml red wine
- 450 ml orange juice
- 1 bag of mulled wine spices
This recipe is just as quick and easy to make and really original, don't you think? First mix the sugar with the Gelfix Extra in a pot and then add the orange juice, the wine and the mulled wine spice. Bring everything to the boil and cook for at least 3 minutes before filling and sealing the delicious jam in prepared preserving jars.
Prepare baked apple jam
- 100g almonds
- 500g apples
- 400 ml apple juice
- 100 g Sultana
- 500 g preserving sugar (2:1)
- 1 vanilla bean
This version is also incredibly tasty and not difficult to replicate. A great version of the classic apple jam! Only the preparation takes a little longer. First you have to roast the almonds in a pan. Peel and quarter the apples, remove the core and cut the flesh into cubes. Now you also have to cook this jam. To do this, put the cubes, the juice, the sultanas and the preserving sugar in a pot, bring to the boil and let it cook for 5 to 10 minutes. In the meantime, roughly chop the almonds and remove the pulp from the vanilla pod by cutting it lengthways. Then add the quartered pod to the jam along with the pulp and almonds and cook everything for a moment if you are making the Christmas jam yourself. Fill the jars (ideally each jar gets one pod), screw the lids on tightly and turn the jars upside down for at least 5 minutes.
Make your own cherry jam with oranges
- 500 g sour cherries
- 1 kg of oranges
- 500 g preserving sugar
- 1 tbsp gingerbread spice
- 2 Tbsp Almond slivers
- 2 dashes of rum flavoring
For this jam, the sour cherries may first be pitted and the oranges filleted (approx. 500 g remain). Puree the cherries and oranges and first mix in the gingerbread spice and then the preserving sugar. Bring everything to the boil in a pot while stirring, add the almond slivers and rum and cook for 3 minutes. Then just fill the sour cherry jam into jars. Make your own cranberry jam
- 3 untreated oranges
- 220 g cranberries (fresh or from a jar, if desired)
- 60 ml Whisky
- orange juice
- 1 kg preserving sugar (1:1)
To make delicious winter jam with oranges, wash them, cut them into thin slices and then quarter them. Put the orange quarters, whiskey and cranberries in a pot and top up to one kilogram with orange juice. Then add the preserving sugar and bring to the boil while stirring. Let cook for 4 minutes. Pour the finished Christmas jam into jars, screw them on and leave them upside down for 10 minutes.
Pumpkin jam recipe
- 750g pumpkin
- 1/8 L dry white wine
- 1/2 L freshly squeezed orange juice
- 1 tbsp freshly grated ginger
- 700 g preserving sugar (2:1)
- grated zest of half an orange
- 1 teaspoon gingerbread spice
- 2 cl orange liqueur
Recipes with pumpkinthere are a lot. However, if you would like to make a delicious Christmas jam yourself, this recipe is also a good choice. To do this, first cut the pumpkin into small pieces. Pour white wine into a pot and sauté the pumpkin until soft. Add the orange peel and ginger, mix well and let cool. Then stir in the preserving sugar and leave it covered overnight. Bring to the boil and simmer for 4 minutes and finally refine with the liqueur and the gingerbread spice. Leave the filled jars upside down until they cool.
Pumpkin apple cinnamon jam
- 500 Hokkaido
- 500g apples
- 500 preserving sugar (1:2)
- 50 ml Calvados (or other fruit spirit)
- 200 ml apple juice
- 1 pinch of cinnamon
- 1 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
Peel and core the pumpkin and apples and leave them in a pot with the preserving sugar and apple juice for an hour. This way the fruit is given time to produce juice. Then add the cinnamon and lemon juice and bring everything to the boil while stirring. Add the Calvados, bring to the boil again, pour into jars and place them on the closed lid for 5 to 10 minutes. Then turn over and let cool. The fruits can also be pureed before cooking.
Make your own spicy strawberry jam
- 750 g fresh or frozen strawberries
- 260 g preserving sugar (3:1)
- 2 THE Amaretto
- 1 level teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 to 1 teaspoon ground vanilla
To make this treat, simply put all the ingredients in a pot. If you use frozen strawberries, let them thaw well beforehand. Cook everything for 10 minutes. If you want a fine jam, you can puree the fruit pieces before filling the jam into jars. Tighten the lids and turn the jars upside down. Since the recipe is quick and easy, you can spontaneously make this Christmas jam yourself at any time.
