An extractor hood has long been more than just a device for filtering and extracting cooking fumes, but rather a stylish highlight for every kitchen. The models from the Italian manufacturer Elica are particularly impressive. Every Elica extractor hood is an expression of the modern aesthetics and elegance that characterize the brand. At the international kitchen furniture trade fair Eurocucina 2018, which took place in Milan at the end of April, visitors were able to get a small insight into the future. The renowned company presented its latest products, which represent the perfect combination of innovation and design. Elica's innovations were showcased in an eye-catching 800 square meter exhibition space.
The Elica trade fair stand – innovation meets design
The Italian architectural firm Labics was commissioned to design the interior design for the trade fair. The idea of the project comes from an urban environment - a metaphor for the world of Elica. An open, flowing space divided into a series of small buildings and streets. The interior should be designed like an inviting living area where Elica products can be showcased.
Each room had a different theme and allowed the visitor to familiarize themselves with the brand's new products, learn about their features and interact with them. The extensive public area, on the other hand, was made up of a series of streets and squares within a city. The interior design gave a complete picture of the company. Great importance was also placed on the materials used. As trade show guests walked through Elica's small town, they could visit different rooms and get information about the different product specifications.
The rooms – “Inspired Cooking”, “Silence”, “Lighting” and “ConnectAir” – were designed to showcase the latest products and how they work, while the “Vision” room showcased Elica's interpretation of the kitchen of the future. We have summarized the highlights of the trade fair for you:
Induction hob with integrated extractor hood – NikolaTesla Switch
In the first room entitled “Inspired Cooking” the focus was on the new “NikolaTesla Switch” product line. The innovative induction field with integrated extractor hood revolutionizes the daily cooking experience and turns our ideas upside down. Induction and suction are combined in a single product.
“NikolaTesla Switch” offers all the advantages of induction hobs, such as quick cooking and easy cleaning, while the extraction system achieves a high level of performance in terms of smoke extraction, noise levels and energy efficiency (Class A+). It is even five times more powerful than conventional systems. A cast iron effect ring and a glass circle are positioned in the center of the hob plate. You activate the suction by turning this circular element.
Elica extractor hood Haiku
The “Silence” room, on the other hand, was created to present the new Haiku product line. The series includes modern extractor hoods that embody the concept of clean lines, powerful exhaust systems, low noise and high quality materials. This new design hood from Elica is the result of the desire for a simplified form, free from superfluous elements but at the same time enriched with different contents that work harmoniously together.
All the concepts that make Haiku an extremely innovative product in its category are implemented in just 32 cm depth. The flat screen hood and the extractor flow perfectly together and form a single edge, which makes the overall picture look particularly harmonious.
Lullaby with integrated lighting
“Lullaby” focuses on topics such as architecture, materials and light, which play a particularly important role in the kitchen. The Elica ceiling hood offers a variety of functions, opens up new perspectives and creates innovative environments in which you can immerse yourself and feel comfortable.
Light is the focus of the “Lullaby” product line: the even, balanced distribution of light in the room creates a unique and atmospheric ambience. You have the option to adjust the light intensity and select the color temperature. The model is perfect for open living spaces wherekitchen and living roomshould visually harmonize with each other.
ConnectAir and Snap – the latest generation of connection options
“ConnectAir” was the room in which the exclusiveSmart home solutionswere shown by Elica. At Eurocucina 2018, Elica presented a selection of products that can be controlled by smartphones. The wireless connection between the induction hob, extractor hood and the Snap air quality control device enables complete air management in the kitchen. Since the kitchen and living room usually flow into one another in new buildings, fresh air is essential for well-being.
The extractor hood is at the heart of this revolutionary smart home system. Through direct communication with the hob and “Snap”, it monitors the room air and activates automatically when necessary to ensure high air quality during cooking and in the meantime.
Summilux
Part of the new Téchne product line is the “Summilux” circulating air hood. The model can be connected to the “Snap” device via a special app and the air quality can be monitored. Another plus point – it has several LED light sources with different power (9W, 30W, 40W,3500 K). The upward light can be dimmed to create an inviting ambience. The LED ring, which is directed downwards towards the hob, ensures sufficient brightness. The combination of polished stainless steel and glass creates the perfect balance between aesthetics and technology.
