Environmental protection and sustainability have become a very important topic in recent years and many of us are trying to improve our daily actions. Our plastic consumption in particular has a significant impact on the environment and up to 13 million tonnes of plastic waste ends up in the sea every year. Quite a lot, right? For this reason. Fortunately, more and more brands and companies are turning to environmentally friendly packaging to reduce their carbon footprint and plastic waste. In today's article we would like to introduce you to an association that is committed to the vision of sustainable agriculture and the preservation of the environment. So read on and find out more aboutPink Lady® and what commitments they have made.
Why is environmentally friendly packaging so important?
Plastic bags, disposable tableware, packaging films, etc. – unfortunately, plastic has become an integral part of our everyday lives. From fruit and vegetable nets to compostable cotton swabs to reusable bottles - the world is constantly evolving and it's not that difficult to reduce our plastic consumption. Using eco-friendly packaging can make a big difference. Many people are trying to live more sustainably and this obviously affects the products and brands they are loyal to. According to a survey, 70% of consumers are willing to spend more on certain goods as long as the company is committed to protecting the environment. So it's no wonder that more and more companies are aiming to be part of the solution and not part of the problem.
Pink Lady®, a committed brand
Pink Lady®is a non-profit, non-profit association that brings men and women together under shared values. Innovation, sustainability, sharing… Environmental protection is a top priority for Pink Lady® and is part of a sustainable vision that responds to current problems. Through the two organic and eco-responsible production methods, everyone in the Pink Lady® sector is committed to responsible production by developing agroecological practices, conserving natural resources, eliminating single-use plastics and working to make European production carbon neutral by 2030 . The apple farmers provide craftsmanship of the highest quality all year round.
All members of the association are committed to responsible production without having to compromise on quality. Single-use plastic is no longer available at Pink Lady® and the apples are packed in trays made from 100% cardboard throughout Europe. The ecological packaging is also completely recyclable and compostable and this step saves up to 660 tons of plastic in one season. To further support its environmentally conscious approach and create predictive indicators, Pink Lady® is also working through its incubator Pink LAB with the start-up WeatherForce, an expert in the development of intelligent meteorological solutions. As a result, producers will benefit from reliable information that will allow them to better manage their farms, prevent climate disasters and manage their resources.
Finally, to increase the value of the work done by growers throughout the year, Pink Lady® consumers have the opportunity to sponsor a tree and receive information about its life cycle during the apple's 7-month growth. This is all thanks to the “Become a tree sponsor” Action possible. In the fall, the sponsors are invited to harvest their own Pink Lady® apple and get to know the producer, which is not only good for the environment but also a lot of fun.
