Your daughter's old Barbie has matted hair and the clothes are either long lost or torn? We'll show you 11 DIY projects with which you can make your favorite doll shine in new splendor. Find out how you can make Barbie clothes yourself from balloons and style your favorite doll according to the latest fashion trends. And as every woman knows – a new look requires a new hair color. We'll show you how you can first straighten the matted Barbie hair and then create highlights. You can even use food coloring to color your favorite doll's entire mane. The children are of course allowed to help with the crafts - the instructions are super simple. First we offer several ideas for clothing, and then come some suggestions for hair styling.

Mini dress made of balloons

The first craft instructions are pretty straightforward. For the dress pictured above you will need a balloon and scissors. Let the children help, for example they can choose the color of the balloon.

Simply cut off the bottom and top of the balloon. Dress the doll with the middle part. The shoulder-free dress for the doll is ready.

Top and skirt without sewing

Put together a chic outfit with a blue skirt and a pink top. With this look, your Barbie doll is perfectly prepared for a party with her friends. For this craft idea you need two balloons in your daughter's favorite colors and a pair of scissors.

Start with the skirt. First cut out the neck of the blue balloon. Wear the cut-out detail as a mini skirt. Then cut the remaining part of the balloon in a zigzag shape. Put the second detail on top of the first and the skirt is finished. Cut out three openings in the pink balloon for the blouse. The two smaller openings on both sides are for the arms, the opening in the middle is for the head.

Make an everyday outfit for your favorite doll

From balloonsYou can create numerous outfits suitable for everyday use. Basically, the rule of thumb applies - skirts are usually made from the narrow lower part with the opening, and blouses and tops are made from the wider upper part. Let your imagination run wild and try different color combinations. Children aged three and over can take part in crafting.

Make a sporty outfit out of rubber gloves

Conjure up sporty clothes for the popular Barbie doll using a rubber glove. For example, you can make an off-the-shoulder top and leggings. This is how the outfit is made:

First cut off half of your middle and ring fingers. Then cut off the part of the glove with the index finger, middle finger, ring finger and little finger.

Then put this part on so that the partially cut out ring and middle fingers serve as trouser legs. Now carefully cut the finished “pants” from the remaining glove.

Optionally, you can tie the remaining two fingers (i.e. the index finger and the little finger) together at the front.

The photo above shows the end result - this is what the finished pants should look like. Now cut out a ring from the thumb finger - the off-the-shoulder top is ready.

A rubber glove nightgown

When Barbie goes to sleep, she definitely needs a stylish nightgown. Simply cut off the index finger, middle finger and ring finger from a rubber glove to create three openings. The two side openings are for the arms, the middle opening is for the head. Dress the doll and tie the thumb and little finger together at the back at the waist. Complete!

Fold Barbie dress from napkin

Barbie definitely needs a cute dress for her first date with Ken. We'll show you how to make a playful design out of paper napkins. For the next craft idea you will need a square paper napkin with floral motifs printed on both sides and knitting yarn.

First cut out one corner of the napkin round. Then cut out two more openings on both sides about 2 cm from this corner. The rounded corner is actually the opening for the neck, the other two – for the arms. Put the doll's napkin dress on, fold the left and right sides to the middle at the front and tie them together with the knitting yarn.

Make your own handbag for Barbie

When Barbie goes shopping with her friends, she carries a chic handbag. We'll show you how you can make these out of a balloon. You need a balloon, knitting yarn (approx. 15 cm long), scissors, thick needle.

First cut the balloon in half crosswise. Discard the half with the opening (called the neck). Poke two holes at the end of the other half using an 8 mm needle. Cut off 15 cm of the knitting yarn for the bag handle. Pass one end of the knitting yarn through the first opening and knot it on the other side. Then pass the other end through the second, opposite opening and tie it off as well. Optionally you can attach it with a hot glue gun.

Styling your hair – making your own accessories

Barbie has long hair and loves trying new hairstyles and new hair accessories. With a chic headband with rhinestones, she is guaranteed to be a star in the dollhouse. For the next craft idea you will need: the plastic ring on the neck of a plastic bottle, rhinestones, hot glue gun, scissors.

First carefully remove the plastic ring from the plastic bottle, then cut out a small piece of it with scissors. In the end, the ring should now resemble a headband. Attach rhinestones to the top with the hot glue gun. Allow to dry.

Straighten and repair matted Barbie hair with fabric softener

Has your doll's hair lost its shine? Are they matted and can no longer be styled? Here's a quick guide on how to straighten them. You will need a bowl and two or three drops of fabric softener.

Simply fill the bowl halfway with lukewarm water, add fabric softener and stir in slowly. Immerse the doll's hair in the water and leave it for 5-10 minutes. Then comb your hair carefully. You can also rinse the hair with water.

Coloring Barbie hair: instructions

When Barbie wants to have her hair dyed, she goes to the hairdresser. Your daughter can also give her a new look using food coloring in lukewarm water. Simply dissolve the food coloring in water. Dip the doll's hair into the solution and leave it inside for 3-5 minutes.

Then pat the doll dry on a napkin and comb the hair.

Make your own highlights

Little girls are particularly excited about dolls with colorful hair - we'll show you how to dye highlights. You will need a balloon, hair dye, a crochet hook, a paper napkin.

Comb the doll's hair. Cut the balloon crosswise in half and make 5-6 holes in the top half. Put the balloon on as a bathing cap. Pull strands through the holes with the crochet hook. Place the doll on a napkin or kitchen paper. Distribute the hair color on the hair strands and allow it to take effect. Wash your hair after the exposure time.
