Make your own light bulb as a lamp

If you don't want to miss the minimalist look in your own home, you can use a special trend to design your furnishings. We are referring to the trendy pendant lights that do not have an elaborate design or a special lampshade, but simply consist of a light bulb. The idea of the light bulb as a lamp is very popular and is perfect as a DIY project that even beginners can easily do. Today we will explain how and show you some original design ideas.

A lamp made of light bulbs is a wonderful idea if you are looking for oneoriginal lightinglooking for one that is also very cheap. In addition, other, equally inexpensive materials can be used to individually repair and spice up each lamp. In this example, colored wire was simply used to touch up the color of the white frame.

If you want to make a light bulb lamp, you need a few materials, which are also very cheap. You need any cable. This can be classic black or white, but can also have a colorful color. You also need to buy a plug and a light bulb and get a socket.

Use just one bulb or combine several together to create such a design. All cables are distributed in different directions to illuminate the entire dining table. It is a cheap alternative to a chandelier and perfect when it comes to illuminating a larger area.

A hanging lamp also works wonderfully as a bedside lamp. The lamp can either hang straight down or, as here, be attached to a wooden element of any shape. This means you get a pretty wall decoration that you can also paint as desired. Other materials such as metal or plastic are also suitable.

To make a smaller group of light bulbs stick together better, you can tie the cables together in a knot. This also looks more original again. The lights can be at the same height or installed offset. That depends entirely on your taste. You can distribute several such groups in different places in a room.

The idea can look particularly modern if you choose a colorful cable and socket and combine it with an LED light bulb. In this way, you also reduce your energy costs. Colored cables look very attractive in groups. A great example is our cover photo. You can use the idea to design the children's room.

The giant pear is also very popular. Fewer bulbs provide more light than normal-sized bulbs. The modern interior in particular can be equipped with it again. We find this design of a black and white kitchen with dining area, for which the large variants were chosen, very suitable.

If the normal version is too boring for you, you can spice it up. In principle you can let your imagination run wild. A particularly interesting idea was implemented in the picture above. Curtain rings were placed on the socket. These can even be painted in color to make them look particularly interesting.

If you want the lamp not only to illuminate, but also to look really great and, above all, to attract attention, the group variants are probably the most suitable. Also, don't just choose one shape, but combine different designs. Some of the bulbs can also be colored. However, leave enough clear bulbs that can still provide light.

Another way to showcase the frame is to use a retro frame. For example, this metal design is very attractive. Copper or brass have a nostalgic look and are very suitable. The design should also match the rest of the furnishings.

A reading lamp in the bedroom is practical and particularly suitable as lighting if it is not placed on the bedside table as usual, but hangs over the bed. In this case, a lamp with its own switch or with a plug that can be pulled out is preferable. If the light bulb comes straight out of the ceiling as a lamp, you have to get up every time to turn it off.

Whether as decorative lighting for the dining table or the kitchen island, this idea is not only practical but also effective. You will need several light bulbs, cables, junction boxes, sockets, chains or heavy-duty twine, eyelets and a board of any length.

Use a drill to drill the holes for the cables in the board. You choose the pattern and spacing for each light bulb as a lamp yourself. A zigzag pattern was chosen for the example. Then attach the distribution boxes to the side of the wooden board that will not be visible later and connect the cables. Attach the eyelets for the chains on both sides of the board. Thread the cables through the holes and connect them to the sockets. Now attach the lamp to the ceiling. Screw the bulbs into the socket and now pull the cables to get the desired lengths. Tie the excess cables together on the board so that they do not get in the way and cannot be seen.

With such a case you get an interesting eye-catcher and it is also not difficult to imitate. All you need is four boards of any length and the same length, which you can also have cut to size at the hardware store. One of the boards has a hole for the cable and you have an original variant.

As already mentioned, you can attach the bulbs to the wall in various ways. You can design the hook yourself or buy it ready-made. Both old and new coat hooks are suitable. Feel free to use cabinet handles or other items that come to mind.

You can create effective vintage lights by using metal pipes. In principle, the lamp is made like the variants without a tube, except that the cable is pulled through the tube. With the help of pipes you can create a wide variety of shapes. Whether you mount the bulbs on the wall like here or on the ceiling or build a desk lamp with a stand made of pipes is entirely up to you.

It becomes particularly retro if you use a socket with a pull switch. This idea is also advantageous if you make the above-mentioned lamp above the bed yourself and don't want to attach a noticeable switch to the cable. A fabric cable is particularly suitable to give the retro look the finishing touch. But a classic plastic cable is also suitable.

Since this is an original idea in itself, feel free to expand on it with other original ideas. You can reuse old things in the design, like in this example with elements of a wall shelf. The light bulb can be of any shape and can be changed from time to time to add variety.

If the lamp's cables are in an inconvenient place on the ceiling, you can use the idea to relocate them. Again, use a board that you can fit with pipes. The lamp's cables are now connected to those in the ceiling and then wrapped around the pipe. If you want direct lighting above the dining table, even though it is a bit away, this is the solution.

Instead of buying or making a lampshade, you can make any frame you like. We have already introduced you to the version with wire above. But this idea made of wood is also very attractive. Curved elements of old chairs or other objects are well suited to come up with something. The ideas are merely inspirations and can be modified or expanded as desired.
