Design a head for the garden decoration
For the Halloween wire garden decoration, it's best to start with the head. You can have a head outUse Styrofoam to helpto get the head shape better. Maybe someone from your family will also make themselves available. And if necessary, you can also try it freehand. It doesn't have to be perfect to seem real. Cut a large enough piece of chicken wire and shape the head and neck. The opening is at the back. You close these with small pieces of wire.
The torso and arms
Next, move on to the upper body. A 1 meter wide piece of chicken wire should be enough to start with. Form the torso from it. If you want to portray a woman, you can also discreetly shape a breast. As with the head, it is best to connect the two ends of the torso piece at the back with small pieces of wire. Think about where the arms should go. Use wire cutters to cut the holes to which you will immediately tie the arms.
Now connect the head to the torso. To do this, either use pieces of wire or simply fold the chicken wire over at the transitions. If the neck has become too long, you can simply cut off the excess wire. With a long and narrow piece of chicken wire you can now form the first arm. How exactly is up to you. It can be angled or drooping. This depends on the scene you want to create and your ideas.
Armedhimselfmake
Remember that the arm is in thearea of the shoulderhas to be wider and narrows towards the wrist. Now you can make a second arm for the Halloween garden decoration. But even with just one arm the decoration is very effective. Attach the arms to the torso in the designated places, just as you attached the head.
Make your own skirt or legs
Now paint the trellis with black paint (outside in the fresh air!). As soon as the paint has dried, put the torso, head and arms over it. This not only makes it easier to continue working. You will also receive a stand to set up the Halloween garden decorations. How you do yoursshape spirit, you decide for yourself. The easiest way is to simply make a skirt out of chicken wire. Of course you can also make two legs.
You can then cut a skirt several times from below and bend it in different directions to make it look tattered. You can also save yourself this step if you have bought some cheesecloth and want to use it for designing. You can also design the skirt from black trellis insteadmade of wireand then cover this with the cheesecloth. Since the black net will be difficult to see later, it will appear as if your outdoor Halloween decorations are actually floating in the garden.
Craft with your hands
Hands, like the second arm, are not required for Halloween garden decorations. However, if you care, you can make them using your own hand (or someone else's) to help you. To wrap your hand, use transparent, wide tape(Paper tape in the instructions because it is intended for a zombie hand and the steps are easier to see this way). A hand that points to something is particularly effective. But other poses are also suitable.
Wrap the straw as shown (leave at least 1 inch uncovered at the bottom). This is used to keep a certain distance so that you can easily cut open the adhesive strip hand and remove it from your hand afterwards. Also, start with the sticky side up first. You can then turn the adhesive tape over and fix it adhesive side to adhesive side. If you stick the tape directly to the skin instead, removal will not only be more difficult but also painful. Also, don't wrap too tightly.
In the hand area, the tape should run between the thumb and index finger and across the palm several times. Then move on to the index finger and wrap around that, then the middle finger and so on. Do this slowly because since the sticky side is facing up, the fingers can quickly get stuck together (in this case, simply cut off any tape that is stuck together with scissors). Finally, wrap your thumb around and then check that you haven't forgotten any free spaces. Cut off the tape.
Now repeat all the steps again, only this time you wrap the tape with the adhesive side facing inwards. If it's easier for you, you can also cut the tape into smaller pieces and use them to cover your hand. Just try what works best for you. At the end there should definitely be no sticky spots left.
Now you can use your hand for the Halloween garden decoration made of ghosts along theStraw that you can use for craftinghave taken, cut open. If you have used someone else's hand as a template, it is best for them to do this step themselves to avoid injury. As soon as the hand is out, you can tape the interface back together and repair other unsightly areas.
Dress up the ghost as a Halloween garden decoration
Especially if you have made hands, you should use a robe to hide the transition from tape to wire. Cheesecloths are great because they are very close to the clothes of ghosts. Place it over the head, shoulders and arms and use additional cloths for the rest of the body (as desired).Pants or skirtfor example). The choice is yours! If you want, you can also spray the finished Halloween garden decoration with spray paint that glows in the dark. Then the ghost stands out even more in the dark.
Chicken wire ghosts in different variations
We have already mentioned several times that you can design and change the ghosts according to your taste. One arm or none at all, with a skirt or trousers and even without a head, nothing is a problem. If you don't use a robe, you can even design the wire frame in any color and get a colorful Halloween decoration for outside. Give the ghost a wire hat or something elseGarden tools and accessorieslike a scythe, a pitchfork, an ax or whatever else you can think of. Just experiment and try out different variations when putting up the Halloween garden decorations.
Or how about trying out animals or mythical creatures instead of human ghosts. With a little practice and imagination, you can make and use such decorations for the garden yourself for Halloween. A great example is Poseidon with his trident and horses that seemingly appear straight out of the ground. Speaking of soil: half tooChicken wire bodyare suitable. If you place these on the ground, it will look like the ghosts are crawling out of the earth.
In theHalloween instructionsAn interesting effect was achieved by using fluorescent paint. But that is only one possibility. You can just as easily wrap a string of lights with tiny LED lamps around the wire to make your ghosts stand out even more as a Halloween garden decoration.
Position wire ghosts correctly in the garden
The original Halloween decoration made of chicken wire in the shape of ghosts for outdoors can also be displayed in different ways. One variant, of course, is to simply place it on the floor. The cone-shaped trellis used in the instructions serves this purpose, among other things. If your ghost gets a dress made of wire and you shape it correctly, the climbing aid may be unnecessary.
Another way you can integrate the Halloween decorations outside into the garden is to hang them up. If you have a larger tree, a canopy or a carport that is clearly visible from the pedestrian path or house, you can attach the ghosts there too. Since chicken wire is generally very light, this shouldn't be a problem. Attach them in a horizontal or slightly upright position to make it look like the ghosts are flying or hang them by the neck and theWire figuregives the impression that she hanged herself. Do you have a shed or barn? Place the figure in front of it with the door open and it will appear as if it is coming out of the shed.
No matter which option you choose, keep in mind that the wire is light and therefore requires a dark background to be visible at night. So avoid placing the ghosts in front of a light-colored wall or brick wall. ThePlants in the gardenare, for example, a suitable background, but also a dark brick house wall. The wire can also be additionally painted white (with spray paint) to make it brighter. In the evening after decorating the garden, simply check whether the desired effect was achieved by looking at your Halloween garden decoration from all sides and from a distance.
