We really like the brush strokes in the example, but you can of course come up with something else. Then roll the paper up like a cylinder, overlapping the ends a little so you can tape them together. Then glue the roll inside the rings. Place the cylinder on paper or cardboard, trace the outline and cut it out a little smaller. Glue the circle you received to the bottom of the lantern as a base and place a candle inside.

Use tea lights as the paper lantern is not very stable and these are lighter. Then it is enough to just glue the string for hanging.

DIY with wood without drilling

You don't even need to have much experience in crafts to make such lanterns. You can choose the sizes in the example andthe popsicle stickswhich you use, cut to size or use other types of moldings to create your own size to suit your needs. These models are even more weatherproof compared to the ideas above. How to make the lantern from the example picture:

  • 64 Eisstiele (15 cm lang)
  • 40 Eisstiele (11,5 cm lang)
  • optional glass lanterns for outdoor use as protection from wind
  • Wooden angle strips - 22 x 22 x 1000 mm and 12 x 12 x 1000 mm
  • Hand saw
  • Pencil
  • Lineal
  • Universal liquid glue
  • LED candles

First, cut the corner strips. For example, measure 23 cm for a large lantern and 15 cm for a smaller one. You need 4 pieces per lantern. Then place two of these bars in front of you and distribute the popsicle sticks between them. Play with the spacing and create your own design. Only when you are happy with it do you glue the stems in place. Then turn the whole thing 90 degrees, add another corner strip and repeat the design from just by simply following the previous page.

Continue like this until all four sides are finished, always giving each side enough time to dry thoroughly so that nothing falls apart. Simply place the finished framework over the glass lantern after you have placed it in the desired location. You can also simply set up a candle without glass and place the wooden lantern over it. Since the candle is battery operated, it will not go out even in light winds.
