Anyone who has damaged and brittle hair is constantly looking for suitable products that can put an end to the problem. Hair treatments, conditioners and the like are a great help, but are often not enough to make the hair shine and make it sufficiently supple. And especially when you put additional strain on your hair with tints, dyes and straighteners, there is usually only one solution left in the end and that is to go to the hairdresser, who will simply cut off the split ends. However, since this is usually associated with greater hair loss, many would rather do without it. In addition, split ends are found again even a short time after the cut because the necessary protective film around the hair is simply missing. However, you can get such a protective film by laminating the hair. In this article you will find out exactly what this technique is all about and how you can even do the hair treatment yourself at home.
Now you are probably curious. What does laminating mean and how is it done? Some hairdressing salons offer to laminate the hair. Laminating your hair at the hairdresser means nothing other than treating it with synthetic materials. It must be mentioned that this is not the caseHair care like hair treatmentis, but simply a trick in which already stressed and damaged hair is, so to speak, restored. So it won't make your hair any healthier. However, before laminating takes place, treatment is carried out with special care products that contain collagen or keratin. These ingredients, so to speak, fill in breaks in the hair, while the polymers, i.e. the plastics, then seal it. This treatment lasts between three to four months. During this time, not only does new hair grow out, but the care products are also gradually washed out, which is completely normal and unavoidable.
If you want to laminate your hair yourself, you can even do it at home. To do this, prepare a rinse using ordinary gelatin powder. It is also possible to laminate hair with leaf gelatine. How exactly this works and a helpful recipe can be found below. The gelatine for the hair is simply incorporated and remains on the individual hairs after rinsing, where they protect the structure of the hair like a protective cover and keep it smooth. The result is a supple and shiny head of hair that every woman dreams of.
If you want to do it yourself, you can also laminate the hairAgar agar recipes. This is the so-called Japanese gelatine, which, in contrast to our food gelatine, is not obtained from animals, but from algae and is therefore purely plant-based. No matter which of the two products you choose, it is best to choose organic products. These do not contain any harmful chemicals and are therefore much better for the hair.
Simple version with gelatin
There are a variety of recipes so that you can make your own hair care products. In addition to the gelatine, you also need a hair treatment or another conditioner, which should not contain any silicones. Also get a plastic cap for the exposure time.
- 1 THE Gelatinepowder
- 3 tbsp boiling water
- 1/2 tbsp of a hair treatment, conditioner or conditioner (without silicones)
- Shower or plastic cap
Instructions for beautiful hair
For thick or speciallong hairsimply triple the ingredients. Allow the gelatine to soak in hot water and allow it to cool slightly. In the meantime, wash your hair as usual with shampoo and then with a rinse-out conditioner. If the gelatine is not completely dissolved, you can warm it again in a water bath. Mix the gelatine with the hair mask, conditioner or conditioner. This mix is then kneaded into the still damp hair. Skip the area on the head and start about one centimeter below the roots.
Pin your hair up and cover it with a shower cap. Alternatively, a plastic bag is also suitable. Then warm the hair with a towel and a hairdryer, then leave the mask on for about 45 minutes. Then rinse them out. This works quickly and easily thanks to the conditioner in the gelatin treatment. After drying, the treatment already shows its great effect.
Idea and recipe with additional products
Alternatively, you can also add additional products. Egg yolk or herbal teas, honey and olive oil simultaneously provide the hair with healthy nutrients and support the gelatin in its task of giving the hair shine. It is important that you ultimately get a relatively thick consistency from the treatment. 9 g of gelatin powder only contains an egg yolk, a teaspoon of oil and a tablespoon of honey, which is then enriched with three tablespoons of water or herbal tea and a tablespoon of hair mask. A few drops of essential oil create a pleasant smell.
Important: While you work the treatment into your hair, leave it in the water bath and work as quickly as possible so that the liquid does not gel. Otherwise, it will not be easy to wash out later. For this reason, it is warmed up on the head again with a hairdryer.
How often can you laminate hair?
This depends on whether you laminated your hair in the salon or did it yourself at home with gelatin. At the hairdresser, the treatment should not be carried out more than once a month. After all, chemicals are used and otherwise it would be quite expensive. If you do the special conditioner yourself, two to three treatments per month are sufficient and recommended because the gelatine is washed out more quickly.
Is the treatment harmful?
Many people ask themselves whether lamination is harmful. If done at the hairdresser or at home, there is no risk of damage. So you can proceed without hesitation. In principle, the gelatine is nothing more than a seal like that achieved with silicones. The only difference is that silicones or the polymers from hairdressers are artificial and the gelatin or agar agar are natural.
