Wrapping a pareo cloth – 25 ideas and simple tying techniques

The most important thing in the beach outfit after the bikini is the pareo cloth. Offered in countless variations and colors, with prints and patterns, it is a popular accessory that can be transformed into imaginative dresses and skirts. The larger the scarf, the more tying techniques are possible. First you have to find a color that matches the bikini or swimsuit. Cloths made of cotton or polyester are mainly available in stores. The natural materials feel more pleasant on the skin, but take longer to dry again and their colors can fade if exposed to the sun for a long time.

The wrapping techniques are really numerous. Additional buckles or loops and ribbons can also be used. Be elegant and stylish on the beach. Try out the different ideas from our photo gallery if you feel like tying a pareo in different ways.

Create a summery dress, a trendy skirt or any top. This even gives you the opportunity to hide any problem areas or areas that you are not so happy with. Visit the beach bar or restaurant without feeling too revealing. Below are a few simple instructions that are perfect for the beach.

At the bottom you will also find a manageable video where some tying techniques were shown step by step. Have fun!

This type of skirt is a classic because it is tied very quickly and, depending on how high you tie it, can partially cover the thighs and hips, but also the stomach. Simply take one of two adjacent corners of cloth in each hand, place it around your waist, pull it tight and tie a loose or double knot. This looks very nice on the side, but can also be located at the front.

The tying technique for such a dress is basically the same as for the skirt above, except that here you tie the scarf below the armpits and above the chest. Here, too, you have free choice because it's all about where the knot should be. With a particularly large model you get a long beach dress. But such a dress also looks cute in a shorter version.

For this beautiful and elegant tying technique, take the cloth and wrap it around your body (just like you would a towel). Cross the two top corners at the front and tie them at the back of the neck. This beach dress looks particularly sophisticated if you cross the corners twice before knotting them together at the back. But make sure that the halterneck doesn't constrict your neck too much. This mainly depends on the cloth size.

A buckle gives the scarf additional support, but can also just be used as a decorative accent. Accordingly, you can use them for any tying technique, provided the cloth is long enough. Pass the corners of the cloth through the buckle and then tie them together as usual. You can also add the buckle in the middle of the fabric. To do this, simply pull it through the holes and tighten it. So it doesn't necessarily have to be the corners that go through the buckle.

In the following video you will find a few options and ideas on how to tie the pareo with a buckle. Of course, these are by no means all the possibilities.

Since such buckles come in a wide variety of designs, you can easily find the right one for your taste. Tie a short or long skirt, a beach dress or a chic top that you can proudly wear on the beach.

Place the cloth around your back again from behind. This time, however, let one of the two corners run over the shoulder from behind. Then a knot is tied and you're done. The technique is similar to both the skirt and beach dress above, but there is no risk of it constantly slipping down, provided of course you tie it nicely. You can also embellish the knot with a buckle.

Is your scarf not big enough? If you have a second one available, that's no problem at all. You can tie both models together and create a beach dress that is large enough. The small knots at the front and back, which also create chic folds, give your dress a particularly interesting look. Whether tied off the shoulder over the chest or around the neck - you will attract everyone's attention! You can also combine different shades or colors as you like.

Again, start wrapping the cloth around your body from behind. Place the two top corners crosswise over the décolleté twice and twist the ends tightly. Then let them run below the chest and tie them together in the back. What's important with this tying technique is that you tie everything tightly so that nothing slips. The model looks great as a long or short dress, but can also be worn as a tunic.

If you want a dress with one strap but without a knot, this option is suitable. Place the cloth in the middle over one shoulder. Now spread it out at the front so that everything is covered. Take the part that hangs on the back towards the front (below the free shoulder) and wrap it around the entire front body, clamping the front part with it. In the back area you can knot the two ends together and adjust the cloth here and there if necessary.

Place the cloth over your shoulders, cross it over your chest, bring it back and tie it together in the back. The loose dress is ready, which doesn't fit too tight and feels airy and fresh even on particularly hot summer days.

You can see the version with a long skirt above again here with a small model. This creates a short skirt that can even be used to play beach volleyball without any problems.

A top made from it goes well with a bikini and swimsuit, as well as with shorts or an airy palazzo.

This is what the result looks like if you follow instructions for a dress with a small scarf: You get an elegant top that, with a little more length, becomes the perfect tunic. Play with the lengths depending on your needs and occasion. You will be amazed at how versatile pareo towels can be used.

Are you going to a beach party? Then it can be a little more elegant. Not only the matching pareo contributes to this, but also additional accessories. A silk scarf, a belt or a chain that you simply tie around your waist creates the perfect party outfit. Simply chic, isn't it?
