Our next DIY project is a total eye-catcher if you do it right! It is aimed at the skillful ladies who find the monochrome main style boring. Try the so-called marble nails, a nail design using water and nail polish. You can try it yourself or design it with a friend. Our tip:It's best to make your first attempt with just one color. After a successful result, you can then expand the design to two to five colors.
There are many techniques for nail decoration and the special thing here is water. Drops of nail polish are added to the water to create concentrated layers of color on the surface. Then you can leave the pattern as is or design it freely with a toothpick - make chaotic or precise movements in the water as desired. The suitable pattern will soon be transferred to the fingernails.
Beforehand, you need to consider and prepare a few things:
1. The water - It is best not to use tap water, as the larger lime content can cause undesirable effects on nail polish. It is best to get still mineral water or distilled water at normal room temperature.
2. The fingers - Apply a greasy cream or oil to the skin around your fingernails just before painting so that you can remove the polish more easily afterwards. But don't grease the nail itself!
3. The container - Either use an old bowl that you no longer need or a disposable cup, as you probably won't be able to remove the paint residue later.
4. The Colors - It's best to choose a base color for the first time and one or two additional colors for the accents.
5. The Technique – Dip your fingers into the mixture one at a time. Also, start with one hand first and when the paint has dried, repeat the whole thing with the second.
6. The color chaos - You can easily remove the excess polish on your finger skin with a cotton swab and a little nail polish remover.
PS Give yourself enough time so that you don't end up frustrated with an unsatisfactory result and be patient! Have fun!
