There are plenty of beauty products on the market and there is this or that for every taste. But if your preference for colors is constantly changing, it is difficult to always keep your makeup and nail polish palette up to date. It's also more stylish when the two are matched to each other and helpful styling tips come in handy in such cases. We reveal how you can make your own nail polish.
It's always a good idea to do something yourselffrom a productto get two. This not only saves you money, but also time looking for make-up and nail polish in the same or similar shades. However, it is undeniably more tasteful if fingernails and eye shadow, for example, are coordinated. But who can assume that you can produce the other from one at home?
For our craft beauty project you will need:
- Eyeshadow of your choice
- clear nail polish
- The muffin tin
- a small plastic bag or porcelain mortar and pestle
- small container (preferably an empty bottle made from used nail polish with a brush)
- small stick (e.g. shish kebab skewer) to stir
You can also use powder eyeshadows made from palettes or pigments. However, only by testing can you determine for sure which ones are suitable for this purpose and which ones are not. Ultimately, it is very important that a uniform powder is formed, without irregularly sized particles. It is also advisable to use rubber gloves during the entire procedure.
You can crush the eyeshadows in a porcelain mortar and pestle, but if none is available, use a small plastic bag. Put the eyeshadow in it and destroy it until you get a uniform powder. Be careful not to create a hole in the plastic bag if you apply too much pressure. Use a blunt object, such as the back of a pen.
The powder produced should be crushed really finely so that no lumps form afterwards. If you used a bag, cut a small corner in the bottom to make it easier to get the contents out of it. If you used a mortar, shake the powder directly into a silicone muffin cup or even a disposable one.
Now add a few drops of nail polish remover to the eyeshadow powder in the muffin tin. It will dissolve the pigments. Stir until a uniform mixture forms. But this shouldn't be liquid. If there are still small lumps, add the clear nail polish.
There is no need to measure the ingredients precisely, you can keep it about 50/50. More nail polish will make the consistency runnier. You can test and then add a few more drops. Stir with a chopstick or skewer until you like the mixture.
Now the self-produced nail polish is already ready. You just have to present it better externally. This is where the empty nail polish bottle with brush comes in handy. Pour in the liquid produced and seal well. If desired, you can also mix several colors of eyeshadow and achieve complicated shades.
If you find it difficult to get the powder from the eyeshadow into the small bottle, make a funnel out of baking paper. It shouldn't be big. When wrapping the funnel, leave a small opening at the bottom and secure with tape. Now the eyeshadow powder can be easily shaken into the bottle.
When you first apply it, you will notice that the self-made nail polish tends to be matte. If a glossy effect is desired, apply a coat of top coat nail polish or simply another coat of the clear. Always use clear varnish if the homemade one dries too quickly or the consistency becomes thicker.
Optionally, glitter and glitter can be addedNail polishinsert. Various variants can be found under make-up items or in hobby shops. Finally, slightly larger particles can be placed decoratively on the painted nail and then sealed with clear varnish.
Before and afterthe paintingThe nails should be cleaned and nail polish residues removed. For express and very quick nail polish removal, cans with an integrated sponge are useful. It works very simply – you insert your finger and after a few twists the paint comes off. But after regular use the sponge looks really bad. It needs to be renewed.
It would work with any standard bathing sponge that is relatively fine and not very porous. You can also make a DIY nail polish remover container. Take a small container that is enough to cover your finger. It must also be easy to close so that the nail polish remover does not steam quickly. Now put the sponge in the can and make a hole in the middle so that you can rotate your finger freely inside.
