Kilim carpet staged in a modern way – ideas and care

A real Kilim carpet is a true treasure. The handmade variants and runners are woven into individual pieces, which is why each piece is a decorative unique piece. The highest quality ones are even passed down through families to each generation. The oriental woven carpet is anything but old-fashioned and yesterday's news. Even today it is highly valued and often used in modern interior design.

The pieces of jewelry are traditionally woven in small family businesses. The exotic, imaginative patterns are ancient and typical of every region and country. Sheep, goat or angora wool, and sometimes hemp, is spun by hand and dyed with vegetable dyes. The art of weaving varies from country to country, but in most cases hard manual work is required to achieve high quality.

Such a piececonsists mainly of wool. It is very sensitive to normal washing with detergents because when the natural fat is removed, the fibers lose their elasticity and become brittle. Only use special products for wool, such as carpet foam or detergent, and only in emergencies. It is best to treat the stain with vinegar water (because of its natural acidity) and then place a cloth on it. Otherwise, a real woven carpet is best washed in a carpet laundry. When vacuuming, do not use brushes, as this will remove the wool fibers or at least ruin their structure. A tip: in winter, lay it on its right side and tap it lightly. The dust falls on the snow and is absorbed by it. Snow consists of pure, distilled water and does not harm the carpet fibers. To protect against moths, vacuum the back regularly and place it in the sun if there is a risk of pests.
