A private residence – the designers tell the story
'In 2011 a couple came who wanted to build a new house. They needed a life experience in which they could fully immerse themselves so that they could forget the loss of their daughter. This would be a project that would give them and their family a new start and positive focus in life.
The designer's answer
'Taking up the task seriously, we began research so that we could create a house that would further motivate, heal and bring back happiness. After intensive research, we found a lot of information about good architecture, which also has a positive effect on restoring health. We had freedom of action, with the only wish being for a garden.
The concept of the 4 Views
The conceptual motivation behind this project was the principle of the three N's:Nature, natural light and natural air. The shape of the replacement house is with four interlocking box rooms with oneZen gardenin the inner space, where there is a single olive tree in the middle. This simple design became the basis upon which the application of the 3-N principle could be fixed, whereby this principle could be introduced into all aspects of design.
The three N's
Since ancient times, it has been believed that connecting with nature is healthy for the body and mind. In this house this is due to the three breathtaking, distant viewsSouth Downsarea allows. The broad perspective of the views stimulates the couple to take further steps in the future, with the courtyard being receptive to withdrawal and retrospection. Subsequently, the house got its name 4 Views.
The interior design
The intensive glazing of all walls, the roof lights and the open garden in the center allow light to flow from the upper floor, giving you a spacious feeling. The light from the ceiling creates an enchanting prospect in the interior, with the intense flow of light from the sky, sometimes with the shadows of the passing clouds. Such an atmosphere offers a constant, stimulating connection to the natural elements. Large sliding glass panels to the primary elevation and to the garden ensure natural ventilation and natural, free flow of air.
The second floor
The bedrooms are decorated darker, but not by chance. In this way they offer relaxation on the lower floor. The views from above frame the garden, contrasting with extended views from the first floor, where they emphasize the retreat from the family below.
The outdoor areas
The backyard, large deck and enormous covered patio are all designed to offer great outdoor space options regardless of the weather.
The construction elements
The materials are simple so that they offer calming and relaxation. The cedar wood cladding envelops the interior and exterior of the house and exudes a delicate scent that allows you to chill out in the apartment.
