A house made of recycled material – sustainable construction of an efficient house in Tel Aviv

Israeli architectural firm Geotectura has completed a striking modern house made from recycled materials that can produce more energy than it needs. Located in Tel Aviv, the plus-energy house, called ECO360, combines traditional passive construction principles with improved energy-efficient systems such as photovoltaic elements or solar modules. The minimalistically designed, sustainable building also features gray water recycling. The building also offers a view of nature and sufficient natural lighting from the surrounding area.

Exemplary house made from recycled material – The ECO360

The single-family home is a four-bedroom residence located in the northern part of the Israeli city. The aim of the designed project was aenergy efficient houseto build from recycled material that offers excellent indoor air and light quality. At the same time, the Plus Energy House reflects the beauty of the surrounding landscape without the design appearing too intrusive.

So the project brief was for a modern home made from recycled materials that would elegantly incorporate sustainable features with minimal maintenance. Accordingly, the client wanted a habitat that would serve as an environmentally friendly example for other developments. The Eco360 isn't just solar panels and oneGray water recycling systemequipped, but it also has long-lasting recycled materials.

The challenge was even greater because the sea view faces west, so traditional design options were missing. The brief required unusual geometric optimization to ensure all passive features were retained while the occupants faced west. For this reason, the architects designed a V-shaped south facade made of wooden strips. The home is well insulated and is warmed largely by the energy generated by body heat and household appliances.

Produce your own energy in the house from recycled materials

Thanks to the mild Mediterranean climate and the highly efficient insulation, the residents of the efficiency house need little or no heating. The photovoltaic panels and the energy production of simple household items, such as hair dryers, are good and sufficient sources of heat.

Due to the customer's wishes to enjoy the beautiful views, Geotectura did not face the sustainable building to the south, as is usually recommended for this design. Therefore, the architects used building information modeling to determine the optimal building envelope and positioning. Thus, the ecological jewel shows that sustainable construction can form aesthetic and efficient objects that make our planet a better place.

Minimalist interior design

Inside, Eco360 presents earth-colored furniture and wooden floors, as well as such accessories. Simple, white walls reflect daylight and make the light-flooded room appear larger. Refreshing green oases can be found everywhere in the garden and bring parts of nature into the house. Of course, this is a home designed for a simple, relaxed lifestyle.

The developers hope that such a design project will inspire others to think about how they can apply these green principles to sustainable architecture. According to Geotectura, the project should also serve as a model of efficiency and environmental awareness. The house displays and reflects the ideas of sustainability with more than 50 green features. The hope is to create awareness of ecodesign requirements and find innovative solutions to them.
