On a slope in Franca, Brazil is a modern flat roof house called “Casa Das Padras”, designed by the Brazilian architecture firm MF + Arquitetos. Due to the steep terrain, the tree volume is divided into two rectangular structures that seem to be stacked on top of each other. The lower floor houses the social areas and the bedrooms are located above. The sandstone walls and the middle -dark wood, which can be seen everywhere in the house, convey a warm feeling.
The flat roof house is in contrast to the hilly landscape
An entrance lined with brown wave paving stones leads to the house entrance. A large wooden gate leads to the inner courtyard. Between the two levels of the house there is a grassy hill with some plants and boulders.
The view of the mountains in the distance is visible from all areas of the house. The room -high glass sliding doors on the ground floor can be opened and closed and nature invite nature into the living room. In order to balance the warm shades of brown, the architects used a lot of gray and different accents in black. Green plants also create a fresh design effect.
The total area of the house is an incredible 630 square meters. So that you can enjoy the wonderful view from any corner of the house, the kitchen, living and dining area are housed in an open living space that is aligned towards the terrace. The uniform color line ensures optical “order” and calm.
The open kitchen borders on the dining area. Black kitchen cupboard fronts harmonize with the light gray tone of the worktops and back wall. A special highlight are the kitchen appliances made of cast iron, which are provided with magnificent details. On the other side of the kitchen there is a covered seating area with a small rectangular pool.
On the ground floor there is only one bedroom that bordered with the living room. The sandstone walls in the facade are integrated in the design of the room. Through a hallway you go to the upper level of the house. The special here is the corridor roof made of acrylic andHolzgitter, which filters the daylight. The bedrooms on the upper floor have the same sun protection panels.
