As is well known, rocky landscapes are not the optimal place to build a house. Of course, that doesn't mean that completing this task would be impossible. Architects impress us today with their sophisticated solutions for realizing complex and elaborate construction projects. Proof of this is the unique house called “Owl Creek” in Snowmass, Colorado. This project was designed and realized by the Skylab architectural firm in 2015. Thanks to its Corten steel cladding, the house blends completely into the natural landscape in a very special way.
Corten steel clads the facade of a modern residence in the middle of nature
The private residence is located on a hill and offers wonderful panoramic mountain views.Big windowsand glazed surfaces create a bright and open space and let in natural light. The façade made of patina serves as a privacy screen and offers the residents the necessary privacy.
The two-family house with the enchanting Corten steel cladding is anchored directly into the landforms due to its location and the slope restrictions. The stand-alone house blends seamlessly into the surrounding landscape thanks to the selection of earth-colored materials such as Corten steel, wood and stone. The unique retreat features a triangular steel frame and a roof slope that sheds rainwater and snow away.

The geometric figures not only give the construction a dynamic touch, but also a unique look and a contemporary look. The house was designed and built for two families, so the private rooms are divided into two wings. Several private rooms provide ample privacy, while various common areas similar to a cabin create an open space. The Owl Creek home's interior is just as spectacular as hisCorten steel facade.
The spacious interior of the residence is flooded with light and has inviting and modern furnishings. The natural light minimizes the visual separation of indoor and outdoor spaces. The herringbone parquet provides a perfect stage for the glass coffee tables and cozy benches.
The wooden ceiling paneling and the beams, which form a great triangular pattern, complete the harmonious overall picture in the interior. Thanks to the panoramic windows, the living room offers a breathtaking view of the mountains. This ensures an optimal connection to nature. The fireplace in the living room creates a warm, cozy and romantic ambience.
The kitchen is decorated in a minimalist style and features a long central marble island with wooden chairs. The dining area also offers a fascinating view of the natural landscape.
