Black furniture meets white walls and dark wooden floors

Black and white is a combination that is always in. This designer home in Lerderderg is a beautiful example of how good black furniture and white walls can look together. The family house combines different materials, natural colors and large open spaces. The building was designed to simultaneously provide a luxury feel and comfort for a growing family.

The open, north-facing living and dining rooms have beautiful natural views. The rooms are cleverly and finely distributed by varying the roof height, while still using different natural materials. This way the rooms are visually limited.

Storage and ancillary rooms face south and connect to the garage. To the west are the youth room, guest room and bedroom, which are separated from the inner courtyards. The glass walls allow light to enter freely. There is a view from the entrance to the secluded courtyard with a Japanese maple tree just next to the living room.

Behind these rooms with nature views there is a separate room to be discovered. The accent in the look of the house are the copper plates that cover the facade from the outside. Combined with the rustic stone wall, they create a feeling of coziness and something older, which fits with the history of the area and the other buildings there.

Shane Cook Homes design studio also took care of the interior design and developed solutions for alternative construction so that the project looks truly aesthetic. The team resolved all issues through detailed discussions with the architects and suppliers. Due to the complicated construction concept, SC Homes had to work with the engineers and architects to maintain the structural requirements and unity of the project.

All waste materials were distributed for recycling. The house was built to the highest standards. The farmer installed additional insulation on the roof to limit energy loss and noise from the rain.

The kitchen is planned to be practical for a family and also function as a dining area and relaxation space. At the same time it opens up to the living room, the dining room and also the view outside. It is a central element of the house.

These requirements were met through careful planning of the kitchen and its interaction with the rest of the house. Discussions were carried out with the client in the design process about how the specific spaces of the island and the storage areas could be used. The colors and textures of the kitchen were discussed in detail, with some possible variations suggested to the client. After a bit of doubt, the customer trusted the engineer. The result of all the collaboration is a beautiful, innovative, functional and beautifully decorated kitchen.

The goal was to plan a bathroom that was functional for a family, but also had interesting textures and created a sense of warmth. The large stone-look tiles create an optical movement effect. The decorative tiles with a reed motif were used for the splashback in the bathroom and kitchen and provide a connection with the environment outside.
