3 retro beauty trends for 2025
1. Modern Grunge
Die-Aesthetics reached its peak in the early 90s. But before it became a fashion trend, the style was primarily a counterculture and way of life - driven by indie bands who combined metal and punk to create a revolutionary new sound. Grunge represented an extreme contrast to the mainstream and bubblegum pop of the 80s. And was inspired by subcultures such as goth, punk, metal and folk rock. In the mid-90s, grunge finally caught on through labels like, Anna Sui and Calvin Klein enter high fashion.
Nevertheless, grunge remains a style of rebellion. This is currently experiencing a revival thanks to Gen Z. “Soft Grunge” or “Grunge Fairycore” are derived from grunge – with the same effortlessly cool, rebellious attitude. What shouldn't be missing: a paler foundation that suits your skin type, black nail polish, dramatic and deliberately smeared eyes, messy, wild hair and a good dose of attitude. Also labels likeor Vetements are relying on the modern grunge aesthetic in 2025, which gives every look a nonchalant touch.

The aesthetic – coined by Twiggy, Donna Summer and Cher – is still considered iconic today.
