Documentary “Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy” reports on Sean “Diddy” Combs’ misconduct
The documentary “Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy” was released in the USA on January 14, 2025: It is about the rap moguland his alleged misconduct, which has earned him numerous charges and why he is currently in prison. But what exactly does the documentary claim? And what's up with it?
Sean “Diddy” Combs, the music mogul behind US East Coast rap, was arrested in 2024 and charged with, among other things, coercion and also rape. The makers of a documentary on the US TV channel Peacock spoke to people from Combs' life who accused him of even more crimes. It seems as if Combs has no hope of impunity soon.
Of course, we in Germany have to rely on the fact that the makers behind the “Diddy” documentary have carried out a detailed fact check and examined the statements of the victims in the documentary. However, we assume so. And if everything that the 90-minute documentary claims to have discovered is true, then Sean Combs could end up behind bars for quite a long time. Here are the biggest and sometimes most grisly revelations.
Trigger warning: Attention, the following is about, among other things, (sexual) violence against women.
1. Sean “Diddy” Combs is accused of attempted murder (again).
According to musician Al B Sure!, who dated Kim Porter before she became "Diddy's" partner, "Diddy" was known to be a real "bad boy": When Sure! Once trying to get involved in a fight, Porter allegedly told him, "Don't do that or someone will kill you."
Sure! also claims (contrary to official autopsy reports) that Combs may have been involved in Porter's death. Sure! recorded in the documentary.
2. Sean Combs allegedly abused Kim Porter
Admittedly, the allegations are not new, but other people comment on them in the “Diddy” documentary:' Bodyguard Gene Deal, for example, reports an incident that required him to get to a hospital as quickly as possible - in whichwaiting for treatment. The documentary establishes that Porter was never because ofComplaints were filed against Combs, but the many witness statements regarding Sean Combs' violent outbursts against his ex-partner are similar.
3. Sean Combs attacked his partner Cassie - long before the now sadly infamous surveillance video
In 2016, a Los Angeles hotel surveillance camera captured Sean “Diddy” Combs assaulting his partner Cassie. The rap mogul apologized for this (his behavior, of course).
In the documentary, however, Cassie's make-up artist Mylah Morales reports on a similar incident in Beverly Hills, which is said to have happened in 2010. The trigger is said to have been Combs' anger that his girlfriend at the time went to a party with Morales. In his anger, according to Morales, Combs visited the two women in their hotel room after midnight, went into a separate room with his girlfriend and "just beat her up," according to Morales. At her friend's request, Morales pulled over, she says in the “Diddy” documentary.
4. “Diddy” harassed a contestant in a casting competition
Sara Rivers, who was successful with the casting band Da Band from 2002 to 2004, also speaks in front of the camera in “Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy”. In the format that is very reminiscent of the German “Popstars”, Sean Combs set out to cast a new successful hip-hop combo. It was in this process that Rivers got to know him. She says "He touched me in a place where he definitely shouldn't" - she felt at his mercy because neither her colleagues nor a camera team were present at the time.
Sean Combs allegedly threatened her bandmates with “eating their flesh” and paying a drug addict $20 to beat up one of the future pop stars because he rolled his eyes.
5. Sean Combs threatened a woman with a knife and raped her in the process
Ashley, who appears in "Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy" and does not want to be recognized, reports a particularly serious incident with the rapper: Ashley allegedly had rumors about Combs and his involvement in the murder of West Coast rap artist Icon Tupac Shakur spread. So, according to her statement, “Diddy” paid her a loud visit, put a knife in her mouth and raped her with a remote control. And apparently not just once, but for hours. According to Ashley's log, who also reported the case to the police, other people were also involved in the rape. An employee of Combs also threatened to sell her as part of a human trafficking deal. She accused the police of investigative errors after filing a complaint against the rapper and withdrew after this incident.
Sean “Diddy” Combs denies all of these allegations. When and whether the documentary “Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy” will be shown in Germany is currently unknown.
