Golden Milk Recipe: This is what you need to make it yourself
A classic turmeric latte is made with turmeric paste. You can easily make these yourself and store them in the fridge. This is the basic recipe that you can multiply in proportion.
Ingredients for the turmeric paste:
- 1 tbsp turmeric (in powder form)
- 120ml water
- freshly grated ginger
- 1 pinch of nutmeg
- 1 pinch of cinnamon
- 1 tsp coconut oil
- 1 pinch of freshly ground pepper (optional)
To mix the turmeric latte:350 ml plant milk (we recommend coconut rice milk, but almond milk or oat milk are also possible)
Preparing the turmeric paste
To make the base of the Golden Milk, it's best to do this:
Put 120 ml of water in a pot. Add 1 tbsp turmeric powder. You can also grate fresh turmeric, but the pieces are a bit annoying when drinking, and fresh turmeric actually doesn't have as much flavor as the powder. Another catch: Fresh turmeric turns everything yellow? You really need to be careful here. Our tip: It's best to always wear gloves when processing fresh turmeric.
What else is missing? Peel a thumb-sized piece of fresh ginger, grate it finely on a grater and add it to the pot. Add a pinch of nutmeg and slowly bring everything to the boil while stirring. After about ten minutes, a slightly liquid paste will form.
