So strawberries stay fresh longer!

Strawberries quickly become bad. However, the durability can be extended with a simple trick.

A delicious vanilla ice cream with cream and fresh strawberries - there is almost nothing better in summer. Unfortunately, there is a disadvantage among the red, sweet berries.

You don't stay fresh for that long. Often they become mushy after just a few days or sometimes hours and start to mold. It doesn't matter whether you buy them cheaply from the discounter or a little more expensive from the weekly market.

Unfortunately, the phenomenon is not only found in strawberries. Other types of berry such as raspberries or blackberries quickly become rotten. Fortunately, there is a brilliant trick that keeps strawberries and other berries fresh longer.

If you don't want to eat the berries directly and keep them fresh for a few days, you should try an ingenious trick. The solution is called: vinegar.

A bath of vinegar is supposed to give strawberries and Co. the freshness kick so that you can hold out for a few days. P is proceeding as follows:

  1. Already sorted mushy and broken berries and wash the remaining berries under cold water.
  2. Take a large shell and fill it with about 1/3 vinegar and 2/3 water.
  3. Then add the fruits. Make sure that all berries are covered with the mixture.
  4. Let the whole thing work on for two minutes.
  5. After the vinegar bath, you should wash the berries thoroughly under running water.
  6. Then put the fruits on a cloth and carefully dry them. You should be really dry, otherwise you will become mushy faster.
  7. Store the berries in a flat container and best lay it out with a kitchen towel so that the residual moisture can be absorbed.

The reason why a vinegar pool helps that strawberries get bad faster is due to the vinegar. He kills the bacteria on the surface, which are otherwise responsible for mold formation.
