In advance in the video: New Year's Eve classic: Alternatives to lead casting
On New Year's Eve, fortune cookies tell us what lies ahead for us in the new year. With our recipe you can easily bake them yourself - and thus also have an influence on the messages.
You don't have much use for precocious sayings like "New Year, new luck" because you'd like to know on New Year's Eve what the coming year has in store for you? Then fortune cookies are a must at your New Year’s Eve party!
You probably know the traditional Chinese cookies from the restaurant. In addition to their sweet taste, they are particularly popular because of the message inside. On small pieces of paper hidden in a cavity of the fortune cookie are words of wisdom that are said to predict the future.
Whether you believe in it or not is of course up to you - but it's always fun to open and snack!
The unbeatable benefits of homemade fortune cookies
Baking fortune cookies yourself has several advantages. On the one hand, they often taste much fresher than store-bought cookies. On the other hand, when you bake them yourself, you of course have an influence on which messages make it into the cookies.
In addition to particularly wise and encouraging sayings, you can also choose funny or cheeky sayings to create an exuberant atmosphere at the New Year's Eve party.

- 4 egg whites
- 120g powdered sugar
- 50 g butter, soft
- 80 g Flour
You will also need small pieces of paper for the sayings.
preparation
1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Using a glass, draw circles on baking paper and prepare the saying notes.

3. Using a small spoon, place a dollop of dough on the baking paper in the middle of each circle and spread it with a knife to form an even circle of dough. Bake in the oven for about 8-10 minutes.
4. Take the fortune cookies out of the oven and carefully remove one circle of dough from the baking paper. Place a note in the middle, fold the circle together and place it with the straight, closed side down in the middle of the edge of a glass - this is how you bend the cookie into its typical shape.
Then the fortune cookies just have to cool on a rack. If you want to take them as a souvenir to the New Year's Eve party, you can wrap them up nicely afterwards.
