In this flourless apple cake recipe, the flour is replaced with ground almonds. They give the apple cake a silky consistency and also taste wonderfully aromatic.

For the flourless apple pie you need:
Springform (Ø 24 cm)

  • 3 – 4 tbsp sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 120 g soft butter
  • 4 Owner
  • Juice of half an organic lemon
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 220 g ground almonds
  • 1 heaped teaspoon of baking powder
  • 5 apples
  • some brown sugar
  • some butter or oil for greasing

And this is how it works:

1. Open the oven175 degrees top/bottom heatpreheat. Grease the springform pan (Ø 24 cm) with butter or oil.

2. Peel apples and remove the core. Cut the apples into rough pieces. You can also cut the apples into eighths, then the apple pieces will be particularly large and the cake will be juicier. Mix the apple pieces with a little lemon juice and brown sugar.

3. Mix ground almonds and baking powder.

4. Mix the soft butter with the sugar, vanilla sugar, cinnamon and salt until foamy, then gradually add the room temperature eggs, the juice of half a lemon and the lemon zest.

5. Then slowly stir in the almond and baking powder mixture. Fold in the apple pieces except for a handful.

6. Now pour the dough into the mold and distribute the remaining apple pieces on the cake. Finally, sprinkle some brown sugar on top. It caramelizes in the oven!
