Christmas scent included: This speculoos marble cake is the perfect alternative to baking cookies during Advent.
Everyone knows marble cake - but have you ever tried it in the Advent version? With speculoos spice, a creamy cinnamon-cocoa glaze and Christmas decorations such as crumbled speculoos cookies and chopped candy canes, the classic becomes a real dream cake for the Advent season.
Perfect for a cozy coffee on a Sunday afternoon or as a sweet highlight on the Christmas table... The speculoos marble cake is not only a treat, but also very easy to make. So, get to the mixing bowl and conjure up a little Christmas magic on the table.

Ingredients:
- 300 g soft butter
- 300g sugar
- Salt
- 5 Owner (M)
- 350 g Flour
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 3 heaped teaspoons of speculoos spice
- 175 ml milk
- 5 Tbsp cocoa powder (baby sugar)
- 5 tbsp milk
- 1 red and white candy cane
- 1 Speculation biscuit
- 2 bags of “cinnamon-cocoa” duo icing (125 g each; e.g. from Dr. Oetker, or one light and one dark cake icing)
Preparation:
1. Mix butter, sugar and a pinch of salt until creamy. Stir in eggs one at a time. Mix flour, baking powder and spice. Stir in alternately with 175 ml milk. Halve the dough and stir in half of the cocoa powder and 5 tablespoons of milk.
2. Pour the light and dark dough into a greased and flour-dusted springform pan (26 cm ø) with a tube base insert and marble it with a fork. Bake the cake in a preheated oven (electric stove: 180 °C, fan oven: 160 °C, gas: level 2) for approx. 50 minutes (test with a chopstick!). Let it cool for about 10 minutes, then turn it out of the mold and let it cool.
3. Chop the candy cane and speculoos. Heat the glaze in a pot of hot water according to package instructions. Knead the bag vigorously and cut off 1 corner of each bag at the marking. Spread icing evenly over cake. Sprinkle chopped candy cane and speculoos on top. Allow glaze to dry.
