Whether it's high temperatures, a workout or stress at work: sweating is almost impossible to prevent. It's a good thing that there are deodorants that help against the unpleasant smell of sweat. Since aluminum is still controversial as an ingredient in deodorants, many people turn to aluminum-free products.
When it comes to consistency, you can choose between deodorant sticks, creams, rollers or sprays. But which deodorant without aluminum really helps? We have therefore taken a closer look at various products and revealed in our test which ones will keep you fresh all day long.
Deodorant without aluminum: These help against the smell of sweat
Antiperspirant or deodorant: that's the difference
Dry armpits all day long and no smell of sweat: that's what antiperspirants promise. They usually contain aluminum salts (ACH), which suppress sweating and thus prevent sweat stains on clothing as well as the smell of sweat.
Deodorants without aluminum salts often initially give the impression that they don't work. This is because they do not avoid sweating. However, they help against that. Because unpleasant body odors are caused by bacteria that break down sweat.
Deodorants without aluminum prevent thisin this process and thereby prevent the smell of sweat. This means that you can still smell fresh with aluminum-free deodorants, but they cannot help against excessive sweating.
Deodorant: aluminum salts under criticism
So why not use an antiperspirant straight away? Well, because aluminum salts, which are used in antiperspirants, are still criticized for increasing the risk of breast cancer. The latest studies show that the products are not harmful to health. However, there is still nothing wrong with avoiding contact with aluminum as much as possible.
If you want to be on the safe side, it is better to use deodorants without aluminum. In our test we tried out which products work really well.

Deodorant without aluminum in the test: Deostick
Ben & Anna deodorant stick
Price: approx. 12 euros
The deodorant stick from Ben & Anna is not exactly cheap. However, only purely natural ingredients are used in the deodorant and there is no plastic at all in the packaging. Thumbs up – and a good reason to try the deodorant.
Application:
For our test, we tested Ben & Anna's deodorant stick for several weeks. The deodorant has a fairly solid, dry consistency and therefore takes some getting used to when applying it. Unfortunately, some of it is a bit crumbly, so you have to rub it in with your hand afterwards. Even when you remove the lid, you hear a loud “pop” every time – but we actually find that quite funny.
The smell of “Persian Lime” is very pleasantly fresh and lemony. Ben & Anna deodorant is also available in many other scents. Because of its harmless ingredients, we tolerated the deodorant very well; there was no redness or burning on the skin - not even after shaving.
You can order the deodorant stick from Ben & Anna directly from Amazon here.*

Our conclusion:
The deodorant stick from Ben & Anna does not prevent sweating, but it does reliably help us against the smell of sweat.
After using the deodorant for a few weeks, we are thrilled. The deodorant really keeps you fresh all day long and ensures well-groomed skin without irritation. We also really like the fact that the manufacturer deliberately avoided using plastic and packed the deodorant stick in cardboard. The only drawback is that the cover frays a little over time.
All in all, a really good deodorant without aluminum that does what it promises. We can recommend it without hesitation.

Deodorant without aluminum in the test: deodorant cream
Greendoor deodorant cream
Price: 8 euros
With a price of just under 8 euros, Greendoor's deodorant cream isn't exactly a bargain in our test of aluminum-free deodorants. But because of the many positive reviews on the Internet, we wanted to test the deodorant cream ourselves to see what the beauty hype is all about.
Application:
We tested Greendoor's deodorant cream for several weeks. Despite its rather solid consistency, the deodorant is easy to apply and leaves no white marks on the skin. Also positive: We really only needed a very small amount of cream because it is very effective. Therefore, one can of the deodorant cream lasts quite a long time, which is a good compensation for the high price.
Due to its natural ingredients, it is also pleasantly gentle on the skin; after application, the deodorant cream does not burn and does not cause irritation or redness. The only thing we found took a bit of getting used to was the smell. This is very subtle, but it is a bit reminiscent of baby cream and smells somehow chemical despite the natural ingredients.
You can order Greendoor deodorant cream directly from Amazon here.*

Our conclusion:
Of course, as is usual with deodorants without aluminum, we still sweated. What is absolutely positive, however, is that there is really no smell of sweat anymore and so the effect is simply great.
After using the deodorant cream for several weeks, we are really convinced - both by its effect and by its good tolerability. Even after exercise, there is no noticeable smell of sweat. A small negative point is that we had the cream on our fingers after applying it and had to wash our hands - which doesn't make it easy to use on the go.
This deodorant without aluminum really helps against the smell of sweat. Overall, a really good product that impressed in our 'deodorant without aluminum' test and that we would definitely recommend.
We were also impressed by Lavera's aluminum-free deodorant cream (is available here on Amazon*).

Deodorant without aluminum salts in the test: deodorant roll-on
„Sensitive“ Deo Roll-on von Lavera
Price: approx. 5 euros
In our 'Deodorant without aluminum' test, it was obvious to us to also test a product from natural cosmetics. The deodorant from lavera is said to be particularly well tolerated due to its natural ingredients and is therefore also suitable for sensitive skin that is otherwise prone to irritation.
Application:
We applied Lavera deodorant in the morning for several weeks. The roll-on works well to apply the deodorant evenly. The consistency of the deodorant is relatively creamy, so we had to be careful not to apply too much, otherwise it could take a while for the deodorant to fully absorb.
The smell is pleasant, subtle and very natural. What we also find very positive: the deodorant is super gentle on the skin. The sensitive skin on the armpits seems well cared for and even after shaving there is no irritation after application, as is often the case with many other deodorants.
You can buy the lavera “Natural & Sensitive” deodorant on Amazon here.*

Our conclusion:
After trying the lavera deodorant for several weeks, we are satisfied. In our test it showed a good effect against the smell of sweat. Even after several hours we still feel fresh. Another big plus for us: the deodorant does not contain any questionable ingredients, but as a natural cosmetic it is very gentle on the skin. Even when applied after shaving, nothing burns.
Overall, a great product that we can recommend to anyone who is sensitive to fragrances etc.
Deodorant without aluminum in the test: deodorant spray
„Fresh Natural“ Deospray von Nivea
Price: from 2 euros
For our test, we took a close look at a Nivea product. We were interested in whether the well-known brand's deodorants work just as well if they don't contain aluminum.
Application:
We used Nivea deodorant every day for several weeks. As a practical deodorant spray, “Fresh Natural” is easy to apply and gives you a fresh feeling. It also smells pleasantly subtle, which makes us start the day with a good feeling. We also tolerated the deodorant well in our test, but we would not recommend it to people with allergies or very sensitive skin.
You can buy the Nivea “Fresh Natural” deodorant spray on Amazon here.*

Our conclusion:
After several weeks we are satisfied with the effect of the “Fresh Natural” deodorant without aluminum. In our test it showed a good effect over the course of the day. Even after several hours we still felt fresh, despite sweating. However, as expected, the effect was slightly worse compared to deodorants with aluminum.
For a deodorant without aluminum, we are satisfied with the application and effect of the product. We can recommend it to anyone who generally tolerates cosmetic products well.
