How much do the Germans invest in their garden? A survey shows how much money the average spends for plants and garden tools.

For many hobby gardeners, their own garden and the associated work are an opportunity to live out creatively and spend time in nature. Of course, new plants, earth or new garden tools are also needed there.

And the investment in your own garden can also cost hobby gardeners quite a bit. At least that is the impression when you come to the garden department of the hardware store in spring and see overcrowded corridors, full shopping carts and long cash snakes.

SeaStatesmanMost of the respondents spent between 101 and 200 euros for new plants and garden tools in 2021. 25.4 % spent 51 to 100 euros and 23.2 % of those surveyed between 201 and 500 euros.

The majority therefore had expenses of at least 100 euros and a maximum of 500 euros. Only 7.6 % plants and the like could be costs and spent more than 500 euros. About twice as many (15 %) made it the other way around and put less than 15 euros into their garden.

The fact that you can get high costs quickly when buying plants and garden equipment is quite normal: if you need a new lawn mower, you have to expect over 200 euros upwards and new garden furniture can also get a lot of money depending on the ideas.

A good saving tip are second-hand platforms such as eBay classified ads or SHPock. Here you can make some really good bargains at terrace furniture, plants and garden equipment.
