DIY New Year's Eve decorations: 8 simple last-minute craft ideas

New Year's Eve is just around the corner and whether it's for a cozy raclette evening in a small group or even a large New Year's Eve party, one thing should definitely not be missing on New Year's Eve: festive New Year's Eve decorations to match the turn of the year.

But instead of buying most of the completely overpriced decorative items that are usually only usable for a year, we prefer to make our room beautifiers ourselves. And you probably already have most of the utensils you need at home. Here are eight great decoration DIYs for your New Year's Eve.

Table decoration for New Year's Eve: self-designed tablecloths

Even with small things you can create a big impact. For example, instead of a normal tablecloth, use a tablecloth you designed yourself.

For example, buy a transparent foil tablecloth and place tinsel, glitter confetti or other flat decorative elements underneath. Making your own decorations can be so easy!

Alternatively (and above all recyclable!) are self-designed fabric tablecloths. Just buy a boring, plain tablecloth and stamp your own beautiful pattern on it using fabric paint.

Tipp:Streamers instantly spice up any boring table! A few streamers in a metallic look such as gold, silver or copper work wonders.

Table decoration for New Year's Eve: glittering runners

If self-designed tablecloths aren't chic enough for you, you'll love glittering runners! Simply throw it over your regular or self-designed tablecloth and voila: the festive table is ready.

Since New Year's Eve decorations are not subject to any major trends, but in principle always remain festively glittering or metallic, you can still use the runner to pimp up your New Year's Eve decorations in 20 years.

Here you can order a glittering table runner measuring 30cm x 275cm directly from Amazon.*

Tipp:Metallic or glittering elements look particularly cool on a black background. So how about a black tablecloth for a change? Complete the look with black candles and you'll have a New Year's Eve decoration you'll fall in love with!

New Year's Eve decorations: make your own confetti

You can also easily make confetti yourself. The simplest variant: Punch out lots of dots out of gold or glitter paper with a hole punch.

The Pro version: Get a motif punch. This is how you can make your own heart or star shaped confetti! Or just any shape you like.

New Year's Eve decorations for the room: DIY garlands

Of course, Grilanden should not be missing for a festive New Year's decoration. You don't have to spend a lot of money. You can also easily make garlands yourself! All you need are cardboard sheets and a string or cord.

Then you can cut out letters or stars from the cardboard and glue them onto the string. The beautiful DIY garland is ready. You can design the garland according to your taste. Use glitter or metallic cardboard for the stars, or make the whole garland colorful.

The best part, though, is that if you don't put the year on the garland, you can use it again every year!

Tipp:If you don't have a steady hand, you don't have to draw the letters yourself. Print out large letters and then outline the edges on the cardboard that you want to use afterwards.

New Year's Eve decorations and guest gifts in one: DIY lucky nuts

They are super cute as a table decoration for New Year's Eve, they are absolutely a good luck charm and they are fun: lucky nuts. In principle, lucky nuts are nothing more than, just as a nut and homemade.

Write little pieces of paper yourself with predictions for the future and put them in painted walnut halves. Tie a bow around it and your lucky nut is ready

To make them look particularly beautiful as table decorations, you can also paint your nuts. Whether colorful, metallic, or black – there are no limits to your creativity.

You need:

  • Crepe paper or tissue paper or napkins or newspapers
  • thread

Instructions for DIY pompoms:
The great thing about DIY pompoms is that you have almost a free choice of materials: you can use tissue paper, crepe paper, napkins, or even old newspaper. To do this, simply fold the paper alternately like an accordion.

Secure it in the middle with a thread. Round off the ends with scissors. Carefully separate the individual layers and pull them away from the center to form a ball. You can attach the decorative elements anywhere inconspicuously using thin nylon threads.

Extra tip:Mini-format metallic pompoms are great for decorating champagne glasses. Alternatively, you can also buy ready-made fireworks cocktail skewers.
