Crafting with wool: Make your own wool monster from Pom Pom
First, we'll explain how youcute monstersYou can make your own from leftover wool. You need the following materials:
- Wool in different colors (purple, green, brown, pink)
- craft wire
- Felt in white and black (for the monster eyes)
- Glue or hot glue
- a pom pom maker or two rectangular pieces of cardboard, one measuring 4cm x 7cm, the other 3cm x 5cm
- a pair of scissors
- Pipe cleaner, a 10 cm long piece
Directions:
- Wrap the wool around the first, larger piece of cardboard.
- Once you have wrapped enough wool around the cardboard, pull a 15cm long piece of wool and insert it between the cardboard and the wool. Tie the ends of the thread together (see photo instructions below).
- Now use scissors to cut the wool along the edge of the cardboard piece.
4. Carefully remove the cardboard.
5. Do the same with the smaller piece of cardboard and make severallittle pompoms.
6. Cut out several circles with a diameter of 3 cm from the white felt.
7. Cut several circles with a diameter of 1.5 cm from the black felt.
8. Glue the black circles onto the white circles.
9. Attach the eyes by securing them with hot glue.
10. Cut several 10 cm long pieces of craft wire.
11. Insert one end of the first piece of craft wire into the larger pom-pom and the second into the smaller pom-pom. Alternatively, you can use the pipe cleaner.
Crafts with wool for children: hedgehogs

- self-adhesive colored paper in white, cream
- little red pompoms
- a black fineliner
- a toilet paper roll
- Leftover wool in brown
- Wooden popsicle stick
First, work with the children to cut out a tree trunk from brown colored paper, a tree crown, blades of grass and a bush from green paper, the sun from yellow colored paper and several flowers from pink paper. Glue everything onto a beige piece of paper and attach the red pom-poms with glue. Next, wrap the toilet paper roll with brown colored paper or cut out a 10 cm wide and 30 cm long piece of colored paper and glue the sides together.
Cut out a hedgehog silhouette from beige colored paper. Wrap brown colored paper around the wooden stem and glue the stem to the back of the hedgehog silhouette. Draw the hedgehog face and apply glue to itHedgehog bodyon. Cut out many 1cm long pieces of wool and attach them.
Crafting with leftover wool: Make a beautiful rainbow with the children
You can make a beautiful rainbow with the children using foam rubber and leftover wool. Cut out 6 semicircles from foam rubber in the following colors:
- Semicircle with a diameter of 1 cm in purple
- Semicircle with a diameter of 3 cm in blue
- Semicircle with a diameter of 5 cm in green
- Semicircle with a diameter of 7 cm in yellow
- Semicircle with a diameter of 9 cm in orange

Cut the rope into 7 pieces, the first should be 7 cm, the second 9, the third 11 etc. and the last 19 cm long. Then wrap the first piece with purple, the second with blue, the third with light blue, the fourth with green, the fifth with yellow, the sixth with orange and the seventh with red woolen yarn. Leave 2 cm free on each side. Cut out a piece of the knitted fleece in a rainbow shape and glue all the rope pieces onto it. Now all that's left is to fray the ends of the rope.
Crafting with wool and cardboard: idea for children in primary school
The next craft idea is a lot of fun and can be completed quickly. You can create geometric patterns on cardboard or wood using wool yarn. For this purpose you need:
- Several rectangles made of wood or cardboard
- Wool yarn in different colors
- a flat brush
- Discolored
- adhesive
- Knitting needle
- Pencil
First, draw geometric patterns on the cardboard or wood with a pencil. Then mark the locations of the holes. Drill the holes in the wood or poke holes in the cardboard. Stick the masking tape on half of the wood or cardboard pieces and paint the other half with the flat brush. Let the children help with this. Then wait for the paint to dry. First, make a pom-pom out of the wool. Then fray the ends of the wool yarn. Then take three 15 cm long pipe cleaners (you can also cut a longer pipe cleaner with secateurs or pliers). Then insert the stems (the pipe cleaners) into the flowers (the pompoms), attaching them with glue if necessary. Then tie the three flowers together with the decorative ribbon. A beautiful bouquet of flowers is ready, which is ideal as decoration in the children's room or in the kitchen.
Craft ideas with wool for children: Make your own butterflies
Make cute butterflies out of wool, wooden sticks and pipe cleaners. You need the following materials:
