Crafting with leaves in autumn – fun ideas for the children

Natural materials that you collect yourself on a walk are suitable for numerous crafts in the most beautiful season of the year. The time has come again when you can be creative with your children. The weather is rather cloudy and so you have to find the right activity indoors. So that you have some ideas for the next rainy weekend, we have put together several instructions that you can use to make crafts with leaves in autumn. So prepare yourself and collect some colorful leaves with your children.

This is also the time of year when Halloween is celebrated. For this occasion you can create an original mask and use it to create a costume. Gather leaves and cut out a mask from a paper plate. Tie an elastic band and then cover the mask with autumn leaves. Maple leaves are particularly suitable because of their pretty shape. For the placemat, in addition to autumn leaves, you will also need a sufficiently large sheet of construction paper, Mod Podge glue, clear, self-adhesive foil, a brush and scissors. First distribute the autumn leaves randomly on the paper. They can also overlap and protrude over the edge.

Then glue the leaves firmly in place and let the glue dry. If you implement this idea, we again recommend a base so you don't ruin the table with glue. Then use the Mod Podge napkin glue to coat the sheet of paper and the leaves. Let this glue dry thoroughly again.

Cut out a large enough piece of foil and place the paper with leaves on top as shown. Press the paper firmly onto the foil. Once everything is well fixed, you can turn the finished mat over. Now check whether everything is securely fixed and press the film firmly again.

You can then easily cut off the excess film at the edge with scissors. The protruding leaves give the mat an original shape that creates a decorative effect on the table. The table mat can be made from plain leaves or colorful like in this example.

With this table mat you can now decorate the table for any occasion and create an autumnal atmosphere. Thanks to the foil, the table mat can be easily wiped off even after it has been covered, so your craft idea will last a long time. The tablecloth is also very suitable as a gift. It can also be customized with a message or greeting.

You can make such cute and funny little men without needing any special materials. In addition to autumn leaves and craft paper in an autumnal color, you will also need a sharpie or black felt-tip pen and googly eyes. The sheets are first arranged on the paper and then glued in place. Then paint the mouth and glue on the googly eyes.

This example is also an original idea for a picture that you can implement. Again spread the leaves on a piece of paper. Then use acrylic paints to color the area around the leaf. The shape of the leaf remains white. Let the paint dry and you can hang the picture in the children's room or another room.
