This is what you need
You don't need any expensive materials for this craft project. You can use old hangers you already have at home or buy some cheaply. Here is the list with all the necessary materials:
- 16 white plastic hangers
- white cable ties
- Side cutters
- Optional: white fairy lights with approx. 100 lights
- Optional: small plastic snowflakes, bows, etc. as decoration
You can use both regular and children's hangers for this project, depending on how big you want the snowflakes.
Instructions: Make a snowflake out of clothes hangers
First, place 2 hangers on a larger flat surface so that the straight bottoms touch each other.
Repeat the process with the remaining 6 hangers. Arrange the pairs in a circle so that the hanger hooks and the hanger next to them touch each other.
Place a 2nd layer of hangers on top of the bottom 8 hangers. This time, rotate the brackets 45 degrees so that they fall between the existing brackets.
Loosely secure the intersections of the 2 bottom hangers and the 2 hanger hooks with cable ties.
It's best to tighten the cable ties, but not too tight, until you have everything together. Tie the inner corners of the bottom and top hangers with zip ties.
Remove excess cable ties with side cutters. You can also use scissors.
The snowflake is ready to hang! Or you can add lights or other decorations of your choice. Below are a few ideas.
Decorate the snowflakes
Now comes the fun part! Once the shape of the snowflake is ready, you can start decorating. You have various options to choose from: you can paint the plastic clothes hangers, stick them with small decorative snowflakes or decorate them with beads and bows. If you want to give your snowflake a 3D effect, make a second, smaller snowflake out of children's clothes hangers and glue it in the middle of the larger one. Add lights

Once the outside is covered with lights, start going up and down along every other hanger. As you do this, tie the light cord with cable ties to keep it tight to the hanger.
