DIY winter decorations made from wine bottles
There is one for empty wine bottlesnumerous upcycling projects, especially for the garden. But even in winter you can breathe new life into the transparent glass bottles and make beautiful winter decorations out of them. We show an interesting craft project here:
Necessary materials:
- 3 clear glass wine bottles
- Frosted glass effect spray
- Painter's tape, approx. 2 cm wide
- Fresh or artificial greenery
- Micro LED fairy lights
- Jute twine
Directions:
1. First, remove all labels from the wine bottles. To do this, immerse the bottles in hot, soapy water for about 15 minutes. Then peel off the labels and scrape off any excess adhesive with a plastic scraper if necessary. Additionally, you can rub the bottle with alcohol to ensure the surface is clean and the spray sticks.
2. Allow the bottles to dry and place a strip or two of painter's tape around the bottom half of the bottle. You can also leave one of the bottles without painter's tape.
3. Place the bottles on a protected surface in a well-ventilated area and spray with the frosted glass spray paint. Apply 2 or more wet coats a few minutes apart. The frosted glass paint dries completely in 10 minutes.
4. Carefully peel off the painter's tape.
5. Wrap the bottle necks a few times with jute and tie the ends into a pretty bow. For a glowing effect, insert small LED fairy lights into the bottles, then insert some fresh or artificial greenery into the neck of the bottle.
6. Arrange the frosted glass wine bottles on a decorative board and place them in a group on the table.
Simple DIY winter decorations for the home: birch trunks in a glass
Bark and bare branches are beautiful decorative accents that look very wintery and rustic. With a few thin birch branches you can make a wonderful winter arrangement in a glass yourself. This craft project uses artificial birch trunks and pine branches, but you can also make this arrangement with real birch trunks and twigs. But then it weighs more and doesn't last as long.
What you need:
- large glass jar
- Foam discs
- artificial snow
- 5 real or artificial birch branches (not too thick)
- thin branches
- artificial fir green
- white pine cones
- Low Temperature Glue Gun & Glue
And this is how it works:
1. The first step depends on the width of the opening of the glass. If the opening is smaller than the foam discs, cut the curved side of the disc until the foam fits easily through the opening.
2. Place a few foam discs in the jar by stacking them on top of each other. Glue them in place with the low temperature glue gun. The resulting “tower” should not be higher than 1/3 of the glass. There should also be enough space for the birch trunks between the panes and the glass walls.
3. Insert the birch branches and arrange them so that they cross each other. Pour the fake snow into the jar until it reaches the top of the foam discs. Distribute the snow evenly throughout the jar by shaking it around.
4. Add thin natural wood branches and some green pine greenery and you're done!
You can use the decorative glass as a welcome greeting for guests in the entrance area or as a winter decoration on a wide windowsill.

Make cool DIY winter decorations with salt
Snow is one of the most popular symbols of winter, especially when you just look at it through the window. Snow-covered landscapes have a special place in our hearts and enchant us with their natural beauty. If you want to bring this idyll home, you can easily make a beautiful snowy winter decoration yourself. And for this you don't need real or artificial snow, just salt.
Make snowy lanterns yourself
We have already shown you how to make beautiful things using Kosher salt and a few other materialsmake snowy conescan. Now the home remedy is used to make these pretty lanterns. They are perfect as decoration for the table or windowsill.
Materials:
- Mason jars of any size
- Jute twine
- Decoupage glue
- big brush
- Kosher salt (or regular table salt)
- Motif candles or battery-operated fairy lights
- Decoration, e.g. E.g. pine cones, small green twigs, berry branches, etc., individually or in bundles
- Hot glue
And this is how it works:
1. Coat the outside of the mason jars with a generous layer of glue to ensure there are no dry spots and the glue does not drip. If desired, you can decorate only the upper part of the glass with this frost effect.
2. Then take a handful of salt and sprinkle it on the glue-coated surface while rotating the jar. Do not touch the surface coated with glue and salt. The key to success is to work quickly so you can apply the “snow” before the glue starts to dry.
3. When finished, set the jar aside to dry. In a warm place this only takes 10-20 minutes. Once the jars are dry, gently brush off the excess salt from the surface, there will still be a small amount of it stuck to the jar.
4. Wrap some jute twine around the rim of each glass. This is a good place to stick the decorations.
5. Glue the small bundles of natural materials to the string with a dab of hot glue.
6. Add some salt to the jar and put a candle or string of lights in it.
The DIY winter decoration is now ready to give your apartment a nice wintery touch!

Make a garland out of winter green and wooden beads for winter decorations
Don't pack your Christmas garlands yet! When stripped of any obvious Christmas extras (like red ornaments or glitter), greenery garlands, for example, can look great as decorations in the winter months. To beautify the wintergreen garland for decoration in January, you can complement it with a wooden bead garland. The wood makes the decoration even more beautiful and homely.
What you need:
- Wooden beads in three different sizes (e.g. 10 mm, 12 mm and 20 mm)
- Wintergreen garland
- cord
- wide jute ribbon
How to make the wooden bead garland:
1. To make the wooden bead garland, first measure the desired length and cut a suitable piece of string, leaving a little extra at both ends to tie. It's easier if you put the garland together from a few smaller pieces.
2. Now choose a pattern that you like and start threading the wooden beads. For example, start with a 20mm bead, then a 10mm, then a 12mm, again a 10mm, then a 20mm, and repeat.
3. Tie the wooden bead garland to the wintergreen garland. Use it to decorate the banister, the mantel or the window.
