Make decorations for late summer: A flower arrangement made of dried flowers, without any sticking

Would you like a flower decoration that is long-lasting, but are not a fan of artificial flowers? Dried flowers are the solution to the problem and luckily late summer already has suitable flowers ready for drying. And if you're in a hurry, you can also buy ready-dried copies in a shop.

Pay attention to the right types of flowers when making decorations for late summer. They shouldn't be too autumnal to give off the desired atmosphere. Instead, choose flowers that bloom from mid-summer onwards, for example. The decoration should also remind you of summer and evoke a certain nostalgia.

The flowers used in the instructions serve more as a suggestion and can of course be exchanged as desired to create a color combination according to your ideas. This is about:

  • Yellow yarrow (Yarrow)
  • Maiden in the countryside (Nigella damascena)
  • globe thistles (Echinops)

You also need:

  • round chipboard
  • craft chip
  • possibly drill
  • Yarn
  • Glue

You can now make the late summer decoration as follows

  • The round plate needs a hole for hanging. You can usually get help with this directly at the hardware store. If not, drill one into the desired spot yourself.
  • Thread yarn through it and tie a knot. You should do this step before adding the flowers, as the flowers will get in the way later and will probably completely cover the hole. If you are not sure about the length of the cord, do not cut it yet or leave it a little longer for now.

  • Stand or place craft paper upright around the plate to first determine the required length.
  • Cut the chip.
  • Apply glue to the outer edge of the chipboard and press the craft chip until the glue dries and the chip no longer slips.
  • Allow the glue to dry thoroughly.

  • Arrange the flowers according to your ideas. You can do this without glue for now.
  • If you are happy with the arrangement, attach the dried flowers to the plate with glue.
