If you buy plywood sheets, you can use them to create a variety of decorations. Plywood is great to work with for crafts, provided you have the necessary equipment to hand. With a drill, a hole saw, glue, and in some cases other craft materials, you have the opportunity to not only decorate your home, but also equip it with useful things at the same time. We have put together some simple and decorative ideas that you can try out and use to decorate your home or as a gift.
If you've recently built something with plywood and still have some panels left, don't throw them away. You can use it to make such attractive candle holders. Once you have sawed out enough slices, you can continue with the plywoodcraft. Glue them together using wood glue. The unsightly fringes at the edges shouldn't bother you at all. Their elimination will come later. So that the glue can fix the panes, you can clamp the columns obtained in this way and let them dry. You are welcome to make several candle holders to display in groups or to give as gifts.
Once the glue has dried, you can sand the edges of the small columns. You can do this with a sander or by hand with sandpaper. Then, to make plywood, use the hole saw to cut a small hole in the column that is big enough to put a tea light in it. LED candles are also suitable. Finally, sand this hole smooth again and paint the candle holder.
There should definitely be order in the office or work area so that a pleasant working atmosphere can be guaranteed. Smaller objects in particular, such as pens, often lie around chaotically on the table and become a nuisance. A wall decoration with pockets is the perfect solution. And it's quick and easy to make by simply crafting with plywood!
For this project you will need plywood, leather or foam of any color (4 pieces of 26 x 15 cm), a drill, a piece of rope and wood glue. First, drill the two holes that you will later use to hang the plate. These are located at a distance of 3 cm on this plywood panel in A3 format. Then sew two pieces of leather or foam together to create two pockets, which you then separate again in the middle.
Then glue the finished bags onto the board. Once the glue has dried, you can put the rope through the holes and tie it together at the back. You decide the length of the rope yourself. Hang the useful wall decoration and fill it with pens, scissors or other office supplies. The idea is also suitable for the desk in the children's or teenager's room.
With a perforated sheet of plywood, some wooden dowels and wooden boards, you can build such a shelf that you can also change at any time. Add some equally spaced holes to the plate. Now you can decide for yourself where to design the shelves. Insert the dowels into the respective holes and place a board of any length on top. This idea for making plywood is not only practical for the kitchen.
Don't have a talent for artistic objects? Then you thought wrong, because you don't need to be able to paint to create such a silhouette. If you want to make crafts with plywood, get a smaller sheet and a picture of someone in profile. Cut out the head and then use it as a template to trace the outline onto the plywood. Then paint the background with black paint. Other colors are of course also suitable.
Nobody likes things lying around the room unorganized. You can make stands for jewelry as well as for letters and postcards out of plywood. For the first idea, cut triangles out of a thin sheet of plywood. Then glue a support at the back. This can also be made of wood. For the letter holder you will need several thin plates that should be slightly curved. Simply screw them together.
A simple mirror on the wall can look pretty boring, right. Instead, take plywood and create an arrangement like this. Glue the mirror on one side. To make plywood, you will then need wooden boards that are screwed onto the other side from behind. The boards can also be used to store make-up, perfume bottles or other things.
Here we have another idea for the office. This is a practical container in which you can store and organize folders and files. In addition to a thin sheet of plywood, you can also get wood varnish in any color to paint the file holder as desired.
To assemble a file holder, you will need the shapes shown above, which you will then glue together with wood glue. Before attaching the triangles, you can paint the inside of the container as well as the triangles themselves. After the paint has dried, glue them at an even distance from each other.
Then glue circles of felt to the bottom so that the holder doesn't scratch the desk when it moves. If you would also like to build a shelf into which you integrate the file holders, add a handle to the back so that you can pull it out of the shelf if necessary.
You can also make this original decoration out of plywood and use it to decorate your home not only during the day but also at night. The lion motif is just an example and can be replaced with any other motif. You can freely choose the size of the plywood panel. Also have a drill and various sized attachments ready.
You will need a template of the motif you have chosen. Print this out in a suitable size. Then stick this template to the plywood panel using adhesive tape. Then use the drill to add holes to the plate along the drawn lines. The wider the original line, the larger the attachment must be. Finer lines are reshaped with a thinner attachment. Then remove the stencil, sand the surface and paint the panel. You can attach a string of lights to the back or simply place the decoration on a small lamp.
You will need as many pieces of plywood as you like for these decorations. You can have these cut to size at the hardware store or saw them yourself. Check that all edges are nice and smooth. If this is not the case, you should re-sand them. Chalkboard paint comes in different colors. Which one you use when making this plywood decoration is entirely up to you.
Then measure in which area you want to apply the blackboard paint and, ideally, tape the edge with paper tape to get a straight edge. Paint your shape and let the paint dry. Now you can write or paint any things you want on the boards and use them to decorate side tables, walls or chests of drawers.
